Rules & Terms of Service

NamePros.com Terms of Service

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the following rules and policies detailed below.

Section 1 - General Forum Rules

The following rules apply to all forums and sub-forums on our site:

1.1) Be Polite! - Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. Be polite! Debate and heated discussions are okay, however posting rude, attacking, insulting, profane and uncalled for comments are not allowed and may result in the permanent termination of your account.

1.2) Advertising is only permitted in the marketplace/advertising forums.

1.3) DO NOT SPAM THE FORUM

The following are a few examples of what is considered spam:

* Very short posts that do not add value to the current post. Example: a post with only the words, "i dunno" or "lol cool" can be considered spam.
* Double Posting. A double post is a back to back post by the same person. The second post may be considered spam. If you make a post and realize that you have made a mistake please use the edit/delete options, these are located to the right of each posted message. There are exceptions to this, but very few and it is up to the moderators to decide.
* Posts that serve no purpose other than to up ones post count are considered spam. For example, if someone asks a question and you reply just to say you don't know the answer, this will be considered spam.

1.4) DO NOT SPAM THROUGH PRIVATE MESSAGES - You may not use private messaging to solicit members to come to your website or offer any products or services or for any other reason unless the member has specifically requested the information. If you receive any private messages or come across any message that you suspect may be spam please report it to a moderator or administrator.

1.5) Signatures need to be set up in your profile. Signatures should contain no more than 4 lines. Please keep your signatures at a reasonable size. Do not place URLs or links to sites that contain explicit, vulgar, sexually-orientated, or obscene content in your signatures. Signatures may not contain any font larger than size 2.

1.6) We strive to maintain a professional atmosphere on our forum. Please do try to post in a manner that people can read and understand. Usage of pager talk (text message style, ie: u and ur ) or "leet" talk is discouraged.

1.7) Click fraud (encouraging clicks on pay per click advertising) is taken very seriously. Do not encourage it in any form on our site.

1.8) Please refrain from begging. If you are in need of funds, post an offer of legitimate goods or services for sale. Panhandling or asking for loans is prohibited.

1.9) Copyrighted Material - Please respect copyright laws by posting links to the original source instead of copying articles in full from other sources. Posting a snippet along with link is the appropriate method of sharing information.

1.10) As a forum Staff, our primary focus is building and nurturing the NamePros community. We respect that every forum has their own unique qualities of good and bad, however we ask that you do not use NamePros or WebDesignTalk to promote, OR conversely, to depreciate other domain name or web design related discussion forums. Likewise we also ask that you do not use other domain forums to advertise for NamePros. This makes for an overall more fair, healthy and friendly environment

1.11) Posts critical of NamePros policies, or moderation decisions of site management, staff and moderators (such as post edits or deletions), will likely be removed. If you have problems with a moderator or site staff, we would appreciate if you would contact a member of NamePros Management through the private forum we have provided. The same goes for "I'm Leaving" posts or any other related types of messages that serve only to generate unwelcome drama within our community.

Section 2 - Marketplace Etiquette

The following rules apply specifically to the Marketplace forums:

2.1) Cross-posting is not allowed- Do not post the same advertisement or self promotion in multiple forums.

2.3) Please do NOT post derogatory remarks in the Sales/Auctions/Advertising threads OR attempt to "appraise" the domains or items(s) for sale. Only post if you have questions about the Sale/Auction, or are interested in the item.

Do not reply to posts in the advertising forums unless you are specifically interested in the product or service or having something valuable to add. Comments such as "too pricey for me", "can't afford that much", or "wish I had money" are not appreciated by the originating Sales thread poster. Do not reply and attempt to trash another members ad or say you've found better etc. Low-ball offers (relative to a posted Asking price) in the thread are not appropriate, either. PM the owner with these types of offers or inquiries. When in doubt, simply "PM" the owner. Common sense goes a long way. Put yourself in the shoes of the sales thread starter.

2.4) Affiliate Advertising. The Marketplace is intended for advertising products and services owned or operated by forum members. In interest of reducing forum spam, affiliate or referral links are not appropriate anywhere on the forum, including member profiles and signatures.

2.5) Multiple Sales Threads There is a limit of one new sales thread per marketplace forum per day per member. No more than two active threads per forum per member.

2.6) Bumps Gratuitous self *bumps* (posting in a thread with the purpose of moving it to the top of the recent thread list) are limited to one per 24 hour period

2.7) Shill bidding, the practice of artificially inflating bid prices on your own or a partner's auction, may result in termination of your account.

2.8) We hate scammers and rip-off artists. All members are expected to conduct business honestly and ethically.

2.9) Some sub-forums may have specific rules. Please review the announcement threads at the top of the individual sub-forums for rules and guidelines not covered in this document.

Section 3 - Your NamePros Member Account

3.1) Your NamePros account may not be transferred or sold to another party.

3.2) We allow one account per member. Duplicate accounts are not permitted. If you need to change your username, please contact a staff member.

3.3) We have automated systems in place to detect duplicate account or users sharing computers. If you are concerned your account may be flagged as a duplicate, please contact a member of NamePros staff to avoid account closure. In some situations, ID or other proof may be required to establish the separate identities of members. Friends, family, co-workers, fellow students, or alleged strangers should avoid bidding in auctions, participating in contests, or "bumping" threads started by anyone else sharing their computer or Internet connection.

3.4) NamePros is a privately operated website. NamePros Management and Staff reserves the right to limit, close, or remove, either temporarily or indefinitely, any user's account deemed to be in violation of these terms of service. If your account is closed, you can still communicate to site staff and management by posting on either of two private forums we have in place ("Account Closed? Post Here" and "Private Messages to Management"). Membership is a privilege not a right.

3.5) It is your responsibility to safeguard your account password. Do not share your log-in information with anyone! NamePros cannot be held responsible for abuse or theft as a result of misuse of your account by unauthorized persons.

When in doubt, please contact any site staff member or post in the Private User-To-Staff forum.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service from time to time without notice.

4.6) You agree that these Terms of Service represent a binding agreement between us regarding your use of NamePros.com and supersedes all previous and contemporaneous oral or written agreements regarding your use of NamePros.com. We may discontinue or change NamePros.com, or its availability to you, at any time.
