Aaarrggghhh! Alright is there a way to bypass the mobi site when browsing the site on ones phone. I too have a Iphone and I LOVE the way it renders regular sites. To the point that I hardly use my laptop now.

But the NP mobi site is bad. It's neutered to the point that is unusable. No direct link to User CP. No direct link to new posts. And to top it off once you click on a thread it takes you to the normal thread anyway (minus the logo and navigation header) So basically it just screws up the front end of the site.

Sorry for the rant but this is the second domaining forum in the last week that has decided it knows better than I where I want to go, but this is the forum I actually care about.

This is part of the challenge between mobile browsers that try to render a full browsing experience, vs. interpreting a mobile version... and web site owners creating their own scaled down mobile versions of their own sites...

I surf sites on an HTC Touch with Windows Mobile 6.5 and Internet Explorer (mobile) 6.1 and sometimes I really need to force the browser to go to the mobile version, sometimes it renders it fine...

It's an emerging technology and platform, we'll have to go with the flow :)

We're going to have an iPhone style installed shortly.

The mobile theme right now does leave a lot to be desired. It was a free one available from vBulletin.org. If anyone knows of a better one for vB, let me know!!

The thing is that for the basic web experience the Iphone doesn't try to render a full browsing experience. It just does it. Ok so it doesn't have flash but that doesn't bother me personally one bit since I block all flash content on my PCs anyway. And no in general I'm not a apple fan boy. I came to the iPhone after I had my HTC Tytn stolen at work and it was cheaper for me to get it than the Blackberry bold.

I understand that it's easier to just redirect anyone browsing on a phone to the mobile site than constantly reminding people that there is a mobile version for their use.

I think the biggest problem that I have with it is the assumption that I want the neutered version and that I am incapable to choose for myself. And there is no way from escaping it. No link to go to the full version.

Ok ok...I'll just call a WHAAAAAmbulance for myself :)

Alright I'll wait to see the iPhone version.

PS. I Keep forgetting to point out a bug I ran across when I was looking to whine about this this morning while in the hospital waiting room. when i tried to post it kept coming back with error stating that it couldn't post because there was a security token missing. And yes I was logged in.

There are quite a few irons in the fire right now. I know the Development Team is literally working round the clock to get to everything. I will mention this again to the Dev Team. Sit tight... we will get to it soon!! :)

I understand the desire to make improvements but
might I suggest just using the previous version for now until a new one is ready? Seems odd to force mobile users to the PC site for a month when there was already a working solution.

Good suggestion.
