.mobi The LLL.mobi Countdown Hype Thread..(Again!)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
It has been a wild ride in .mobiville the last couple years... the LLL.mobi buyout initially took place on October 28th, 2006... more than 2 years ago.

The cost was around $25 for a mandatory 2 year registration. After the buyout, reseller prices quickly shot up.. peaking at around $200 minimum for any crappy quality LLL.mobi. It was only a matter of time before this irrational speculative price bubble popped.

Fast forward to January 14th, 2009 and about 4,700 LLL.mobi have been dropped in the span 24 hours by the same person who did the buyout. However, I KNOW the buyout will happen again within the next month because I am magic and just know these things magically.

- January 14th, 2009 at 12:20 AM EST there was a bit over 3,100 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

- January 28th, 2009 there are 2,462 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

- February 14th, 2009 there are 2,091 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

- March 14th, 2009 there are 1,893 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

- April 14th, 2009 there are 1,571 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

- May 14th, 2009 there are 1,258 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

- May 30th, 2009 at 9:37 P.M. EST there are 0 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

The buyout was completed by mostly 1 guy from Japan who in the span of a few hours registered the remaining 1,000+ of them.

Here's a list of all 17k combinations for anyone who wants to go hunting for some. Shouldn't take too long to go through with a bulk checker

there are now 2,462 LLL.mobi sitting available for registration.

that means about 700 were registered within 2 weeks... although i would assume most of that took place during the first few days following the big drop.

of course, looking at the current rate of registration... i realize i was wrong about the buyout happening again within 1 month. i now think it could take as long as 1/2 year for this to happen, maybe longer.. but im sure it will happen again. even when the buyout does happen, i dont expect reseller prices to increase drastically anytime soon after that... especially for the "lower quality" letters. ;)

I have HQR.mobi. Featured auction on SEDO. I thought it would sell like a real hotcake as it was a nice sounding 3-letter mobi... It's just getting a lot of views but nobody has made an offer. I'm thinking that I probably rushed into a feautured auction without really thinking. Might keep it for a while longer and see what happens, but I think you're right. At the moment, there are too many available for them to be in any real demand.

Wait untill all LLL mobi are gone, then wait another year and cash out! It always works that way...I wish I had a couple of extra Gs to invest in any LLL mobi..I would.

I bought about 20 LLL.Mobis from those dropped babies

There are few are really nice pick.. e.g, NYZ.Mobi, stands for New York Zone

I strongly believe that they will returm me a lot in 3 - 5 years

so, its officially been 1 month since the big LLL.mobi drop... the first 2 weeks there were about 700 that got registered. this is not counting the other 1,500 that got registered seconds/minutes after the drop...which were what most would call "the best ones."

today, one month after the drop.. there are 2,091 LLL.mobi available to register... so during the second two weeks about half as many got registered as in the first two weeks. not really surprising... next update will be in 1 month.

Hardly surprising if they are valued at reg fee. But as usual it's the worst combos that remain.

it has now been 3 months since the LLL.mobi buyout was broken.

there are now 1,571 LLL.mobi available for registration... so 322 were registered in the last month. however, i noticed about 5-7 days ago when i scanned the list there were around 1,800 still available, so about 200 or so were gobbled up within the last week.

next update will be May 14th.

we're at exactly 4 months since the buyout was broken..

there are now 1,258 LLL.mobi available for registration... so 313 were registered in the last month. looking at the trend, this seems to be about the average but i sort of expect it to slow way down at some point.. who knows tho.

next update will be 1 month from now.

the buyout has been completed once again. it was done mostly by 1 guy from Japan.. over the span of a couple hours they registered the remaining 1,000+ LLL.mobi

credit to ChineseDomain for tracking this almost daily and noticing right when it happened. now i wonder will he actually be able to bare the renewal fees and wonder if he's gonna try to flip em on the forums... i dont think that would work out too well right now tho.

You'll have to connect the dots on this one, just like I don't see the iPhone as a .mobi killer, nor do I see Android, g-phone, or the Wave as competing with DNS in general or .mobi specifically. I see all these better, smarter, faster, more capable mobile devices and services as growing the mobile web user base which is nothing but a good thing for .mobi websites, just as anything that drove people to use the internet in the previous 2 decades was good for providers of internet content.
