Hello, I`d like to have some apprasails from Australians or people who know Cairns.

For the ones who do not know this wonderful city in Queensland:

Cairns is one of the most popular touristic cities of Australia. The value of its real estate is skyrocking and this domain won`t be offered at this cheap for long.

My wife is Australian born, I asked her if Cairns could be considered third after Sydney and Melbourne for tourism importance: she said yes.

well Cairns is massive for parties and crap.
most aussies have seen Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast before, Cairns is a nice place :tu:

look at other TLD's

most other for "cairns" are not taken by tourism Australia

http://www.australia.mobi/ for example is worth much more.

sydney.mobi as well, due to the overseas popularity of these two places .

thing is most overseas people dont know much about cairns so this de values the domain, but over all its a good domain at current market value some where in $xxx-$xxxx

if you find the right end user if mobi's take off it will be worth more,

Gold coast is more popular by far then cairns, so is Brisbane, Melbourne, sydney and many more places it is probly ranked top 10 but in terms of popularity.

Thank you but it`s not much developed.....I browsed the options and I get no results.

Plus the whois shows some guy from the US so I don`t think it`s a good end-user.

Cairns is also a surname and in New Zealand you have a cricket player called Chris Cairns:

Lots of potential, although I'm not a .mobi fan, will still apparaise this at high x,xxx to low xx,xxx at least if not more if .mobi gets more popular.

If it was mine, I would just hold it for some time, no hurry in selling this one imo.

Congratulations, this is a top name and I am very envious. I have been to Cairns many times and lived in North Queensland for a couple of years. It is a huge tourism centre. Hard to say what rank it would be but I would think it would definitely be 3rd or 4th most popular in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne & Gold Coast would be up there with it). It attracts loads of tourists per year (many Japanese) and is the centre for many attractions in Far North Queensland.

I think the value depends on the success of .mobi. I have noticed that carsguide.com.au (one of the top Australian car websites) has already hopped on the .mobi wave with the launch of carsguide.mobi

Therefore if the extension becomes better recognised by Australians and tourists it could have huge potential (high $X,XXX+ IMO). I would definitely be holding onto this one and maybe developing if you have the resources to. Could be a great name for the right people in the future. I wish you all the best with it and will update you with any more info I think you might find helpful

Hi Lorenzo. Congratulations on this one. I'm not Australian, but I have a real interest in geo-mobis. If I were you, I'd hold it unless someone offered $10,000. Mobi is not a sure thing, but I feel pretty good about its prospects (and it seems like every day there is more good news about big companies adopting mobi as part of their web presence). If mobi continues to gain acceptance, I think in a couple of years you would be able to sell listings to restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. much like the .com geo sites do now. Of course, that takes a fair amount of work, but it could produce a very nice income stream for many years. Best of luck!!

a Chris cairns website would be not a wise move as he has a small target market.

Cairns as a place and tourist meccas appeals to a much wider target market and would be much more appealing.
