Hii guys I recieved an email asking me if would like to see my domain. Please see the email and suggest me that if it is fake or some genuine query

I have a client that is interested in buying this domain from you if you are not going to be using it.

My client can offer you a good price and will pay any escrow fees. But he would like to know your price first.

He is also looking for easy-to-remember names with different extensions for his new domain-reselling business.

So if you have other names for sale please email us your list.

He would like to get your answer this week if possible.

If you are not interested we will look for another domain.

Regards,

Well seems ok I guess but if they start asking you to get an appraisal done...that's the tip off it's a scam!

Do a search for appraisal scam here on namepros and you'll find tons of them going on all the time.

Also welcome to np :)

Sounds like the start of a scam to me. But if you have time to post this message, then you surely have time to answer the email with a price. Then, at least, you might find out what kind of scam it is.

Yea im guessing his next email will be that he wants an appraisal first...

It's an appraisal scam but doesn't hurt to to reply with a price to see what they come back with!.

Don't need to judge it as an appraisal scam before you try.
It might take some time, but you should sure atleast give it a try.

"My client can offer you a good price and will pay any escrow fees. "

That's a tip-off right there. As a buyer you never say you're willing to pay a "good price". LOL..that's just stupid. That's the bait right there.

It might not be an appraisal scam, but they are looking to buy good names on the cheap. So it's still a scam. It's significant to know the whole signature.

That's the bait right there.

Agreed!

And whats with the "his new domain-reselling business"?

Umm, and then who are you, his designated buyer? He's too rich to find the names himself?

Sounds WAY too scammy. These guys should hire actual domainers to write their letters for them.

End of his message.

In reply I wrote and told him I was not willing to pay for an appraisal but if he was legitimate and serious about purchasing the domain names I would entertain a lower offer. He never replied back which tells me this was obviously a scam.

I got an email like this awhile ago and the guy legitimately wanted to buy one of my domains. It doesn't hurt to respond back, but be very wary if it looks like a scam. You will know by the response.

Wow, their letters are getting more clever everytime. I remember I've got one of those letters when I started domaining. I was so excited about the large sum of money they were offering for some of my domains. But the catch was I have to let them appraise it. I really thought that someone was really going buy my domains and make a couple G's. I almost lost some sleep over it until I found Namepros and ask around. I initially didn't believe it at first that this was a scam. But some of Namepro members shared the exact same letters that I've got. Needless to say I was disappointed but I didn't loose my domains. So for newbies who are just starting out, beware of scammers because they will not hesitate to take your domains or your money. If your unsure or feel that something is not right, it is always better to ask your questions here at Namepros to get some idea on what to do.

I had another one

I am still trying to sell my 2 domains and I recently posted them on Craigslist. I had a guy named "Deone" contact me and offer to buy them. E-mail address is [email protected]. Anyway after we agreed on a price he sent me a FAKE PayPal "payment confirmation" and then wrote asking me to turn over the domains to him. This FAKE confirmation message was so amateurish and easy to identify as a fake. I would hope that nobody out there has fallen for this person.
