For all of you understanding folks whining and complaining :

You should remove all of your ads from your sites by midnight ...

I expect each and Everyone of you to remove all domains you own that are parked from Domain Parking by midnight EST tonight. Also - All of you with Developed sites , You'll have to remove All CPA/CPM/PPC ads by midnight as well.

After all , you can't have SPONSORS to pay your overhead and expenses. Oh and if any of you have any Paid/Subscription sites ... They should now be 100% Free no matter How much it Costs you to run them.

Seriously folks - How many of you Call the major TV Networks and act this way when they show a SPONSOR during your Favorite shows ?

You come here and use this site for Free as much as you wish. No fees to buy or sell .... And some of you have the nerve to make threats that you will Leave over something so petty ? Several of you should be Be ashamed of yourselves.

I do not have any problems with advertising on a website, including NP.

Before I was a registered member at NP, I had no problem looking at the Google ads. After I joined, I was fine with the banner ads at the top of bottom of NP.

I think must of us understand that NP is an advertising supported forum and because we do not pay to be member - RJ - has to cover expenses through advertising. Understood and respected.

BUT that is different than advertising. The new advertising makes the forum difficult to read and is simply annoying. Heck, some people thought the site had been hacked when it first showed-up this afternoon.

There are ways to accomplish Rick's goals (and RJ's) without disrupting the ability to use the site.

Now back to NamePros.mobi. Where the colors are still black and white.

Absolutely,

Besides the fact that I like the red,
I could deal with it if it were lime green,
and crap brown.
It's the member's that count.
I would hate to lose the amount of members who would drop,
if it were a pay based forum!
each and everyone has a great contribution to this forum.
And do we really need one more bill in our lives!?!
C'mon, It's not gonna change, just deal with it.

And I don't understand how it affects the usability of the site? There are hundreds of users who can use the site just fine - so not sure why that's being argued.

Pro: My avatar graphic fits in real well with the new colors

Con: The areas we read might look much better with white text and a very dark background.
Less eye strain would be nice.

Edit: The Firefox default start page (for example) is very easy on my eyes, even though it is very bright. Something about this design makes the white parts way, way too loud.

However, the colours - it's too much esp on the LHS and RHS. It's making me feel a little queasy. Can they just be toned down a little??? Please.

It's really not that big a deal.. LOL Sure the colors arent' appealing to some but it's not gonna last for ever. And your right, this forum is free and needs to stay that way. I support any and all measures that help to keep something free.

Maybe if the colors are too bright you can tune down you monitors contrast and brightness? I've seen it from 3 seperate monitors now and it's not that bright, IMO. Not the normal, very nice NamePros red and blue but not horrible either.

I agree, I just got home from work and my screen is only 19"
work's is 24"
I must say the difference is amazing. When the change happened
I commented that I had to squint :gl:
The background at work was so distracting, (there was about 2 inches
on each side showing)
now my home one is only about a 1/2 inch so it looks like a border -
and it looks good.

So I guess it's how/what your viewing it on that makes the difference!

and I don't have to squint

I posted this in the other thread but this also seems an apporopriate place to post.

Have people who are moaning got nothing better do to?.

I don't particulary like the colour scheme, however, it is great marketing and if it gets NP some revenue then i am all for it.
Comments like" i am leaving until its changed" are utterly ridiculous.

I personally am here for the substance of the site not the style and couldn't care less if Namepros was bright pink with yellow spots.

Good luck Rick i hope your move pays off, and Congrats to Namepros on this bold move.

I think it looks pretty cool overall. I'm not a fan of the background, but the rest looks pretty nice and for the most part, it works. When I first saw it, I said "WTF?" but after a bit, my retinas are starting to re-adjust.
