I don't know that much about him except about some of his views about the .eu - Why, what's he done ??

I think he's just pissed that he didn't think of how to game the system before the players did, Enom, SnapNames, etc.

What kind of CEO makes a blog anyway? I know some people consider it "cool", but come on, let's get realistic here. It can hurt somebody's reputation/their business's.

Bob Parsons may not be the a household name, but his credentials are real. 15 years ago, Bob created a little program called TurboTax... perhaps you've heard of it? He later sold it and Parsons Technologies to Intuit for a gazillion dollars. :hehe:

Anyway, Bob is no different than the other top 100 software ceos. He's driven, self promoting, and focused on making his dream succeed. I don't begrudge him success.

As for your views regarding what he writes in his blog, you always have the option of not reading it.

I think, as with a lot of deep-pocketed people, he doesn't practice what he preaches all-in-all. Although I like GoDaddy overall as a registrar, they have some serious flaws here and there. I don't care for them making loopholes they don't check first and then getting rid of them but saying nothing about it. I also think their $8.95 price is kind of high, you can get it lowered down to $6.20 no problem - but only a fraction of the domainees out there (whom probably don't belong to NP nonetheless) know that. I don't know, I think their "domains for $1.99 for a limited time!" thing is corny too. As soon as it ends, a new one starts only minutes later. The fact that Bob also wears a huge diamond earing and dresses like he's still living from like 15 years back in time and he's like getting to be an old dude kind of bug me too. I don't know, I guess I think his "ego" is quite larger than life of himself.

Even though GoDaddy is practically the only registrar I have ever used, for some reason something in the back of my mind tells me they aren't going to be so great in a few years. Like they'll pull off an Enron or something. I don't know, that's just me.

Well, CEOs must also have some ego... I mean, it gives people working with them a little sense of stability sometimes. Who would want to listen to an insecure CEO?

Bob's ego problems can only be scrutinized by his shrink...

Bob has money but no brains.... Have you ever listened to him on his radio show ( he has this because no real radio was interested in interviewing Bob after he paid for a superbowl commercial)

Did I mention Bob had a superbowl commercial ( His legacy in his wee little mind )

He pays the bills so his consumate sidkick nema or whatever her name is will always agree with good ole Bob

Is Bob annoying YES !!! he just goes on and on and on about yesterdays news... BTW did any of you GD supporters that caught ZIP in the eu rush get your full refunds yet?

Bob.... Dont hate the game .... Hate the players.... We will always have our little battle and you will always be on the losing end just as you have been for the past 3 years.

In case Bob has never told you or you have never read Bob paid for a Superbowl commercial for his domain registration business 2 years in a row but what a waste on $$$ IMO when the registrar he was promoting could not even catch a cold when it came to a landrush release of the hottest new TLD

But Bob will tell you that its everyone else's fault and that he was cheated by "Phantom Registrars" hmmmm I wonder what will be etched on Bob's tombstone

What has BP done that is so wrong?

Like anybody rich and famous, he has his share of detractors, but...

What exactly makes him a bad guy? (in your opinion)

:-/

Well, I don't think he's a bad guy. In fact, we can't judge him based on his company and the EU landrush failure right?

I personally know some really nice people but they just are not very adept at certain things such as business, money management, etc... Does that make them bad? Perhaps Bob Parsons has other motives behind his choices, he obviously knows many people will be unhappy if they don't get their refunds.

What I'm trying to say is we don't personally know Bob Parsons so can we base our judgement of him based on what his company does?

I also read this thing on digg that said how a business man treats a waiter will reveal his type of personality. A man who treats a waiter poorly but treats his guests nicely probably has lesser moral values or is a "sneaky fox". A man who treats a waiter with respect and care shows that he is probably a nice guy and trust worthy if you ever do business.

With all that said, I still have a lot of respect for him. Running a company as big as Go Daddy is no easy feat.

There were many-many companies/services that failed overall in the .EU landrush.

I guess BP and GoDaddy makes an easy target, since they are the #1 registrar in the world.

He thinks he's the only one right and everyone else is wrong. Sorry, but I agree with the topic starter here. Didn't listen to anyones opinion about the Super Bowl commercial, but hey, its his money.

No I have not gotten any refund for the .eu Fake Pre regs! and im getting restless.

And as for paying for superbowl commercials was a waste of money, Godaddy has the most domain registrations, that doesnt mean its the best but it means he has done some pretty good promoting to make it the most used registrar.

Wow, I wanna be a failure and a loser like BP. CEO of a multi-million dollar company that he started himself. Must suck.
Big companies will always be the target of a few people.Sure, they dropped the ball on the .eu thing.I`m sure many other companies did but noone noticed.
BTW, I think .eu is just overhyped bs. Just my 2c.I might be wrong though.

Agree on all points.

Look at Microsoft, it's the 'in' thing to hate them.

Same thing here. If you don't like what he has to say, why listen to him?

I like a lot of what he says and do like the fact that the CEO of a company has a blog and invites feedback from his customers. So I respect him for that. But, before you criticise others, it's a good idea to look at your own actions.

They really screwed up big time with .eu domain names. They didn't understand the process and weren't prepared. Not one of the four staff members I spoke to, for instance, believed it was possible for me to apply for two character .eu domain names.

Another example is his current articles on the .eu domain name fiasco does not arise from his own research. I wrote an article two days before him and then I spent about two hours phoning and emailing Godaddy staff asking Bob Parsons to write about the whole affair (not one staff member had the foggiest idea about the shenanigans that had taken place.) He did do so two days later. But it would have been courteous for him to even acknowledge me in his widely-publicised pieces; instead he makes it out that it is all his own research.

Also those television ads are cheap. It doesn't take too much ingenuity to get publicity for your business by having a semi-naked pornstar wannabe in your ads.
