i thought it would be real nice to share some of the emails i receive from fellow domainers trying to sell their crappy names.

hopefully, some of you will read these and stop sending or see the mistakes they make so you won't make them too.

here is one from Andrew Brad, and if he is a member here...he's a clown! why? because he included every other email address he sent this mail to. thus one could harvest his list and spam them too.

To whom it may concern,

The premium generic aged domain FREDLOYAINSURANCE.NET is up for sale and I am emailing several parties that have registered similar domains OR use "[fredloya], [fredloya insurance], [loya insurance], [fred loya claims], [fredloya locations] etc." as keywords in their advertising campaigns. This is a 6-year old domain, with no drops since it was registered in 2006.

According to the Google Traffic Estimator the keywords ‘Fredloya Insurance’ receive over 40,500 searches every month, thus making this a high SEO premium domain worth thousands of dollars.

Right now, the asking price for FredLoyaInsurance.net is just $250, and is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Yes, you read it right, $250 ONLY.

This is a great opportunity to acquire a great domain at a throw-away price. If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me an email or call me directly at +91. 939-2774-412.

All transactions will held either via Paypal or via the secure services of Escrow.com.

Best regards,

Andrew Brad

Nokta are fine people. Yes, they are testing the waters of mass-emailing but once I contacted them to be removed from their list, they promptly did.

Disappointing nonetheless. As I observed very few of the major players in this industry are clean.

Hello,

My name is Edward Lawrence and I am a Business Development Manager for MCB, a domain name wholesaler. We are offering the keyword-rich domain name HomeLoanQuotesOnline.com for the onetime price of $224.

If properly optimized, this domain can pay for itself many times over with the leads it creates when somebody searches on Google for the term "Home Loan Quotes Online".

Only one party can own this strategic domain name. This domain will be sold to the first party that completes the sale. We transfer ownership of the domain before payment is due.

See the great things our customers are saying about us on the testimonial section of our website.

Please email or contact us by phone at 800-521-NAME (6263) to purchase this domain or to find out how this domain can help your business.

Good domains speak for themselves. The more they add sales pitch, the more quality of the domain looks dubious.

mass-emailing = spam = they should know better.

Worst is, when I get emails from someone who registers a misspelling of an awful domain that I made a mistake registering and let drop more than a year ago. Who wastes their time with this? Why would I want a mistake of a mistake?

Here is a scammer for newbies like me.

Hello!

I'm a representative of a rich investor from Saudi Arabia. He is interested in buying mockserver.com.

Please respond and specify a desired price in the subject line.

If you have other names for sale please email me your list with prices.

Regards,

Abram Kortman

Lawyer

Asp Web Services

I suggest to change your price to $10,000. My buyer lives in Dubai and he is very rich. I work on a commission basis.

So I'm not interested in low ball offers. So I tell him the price will be $10,000. In this case I will earn more on the sale. You will earn much more too.

My client offers $10,000. Do you sell a domain (not a web site)?

He has $85,000 budget for several domain names.

How can we pay you (PayPal, Western Union, escrow.com etc.)? If this is your first time domain sale I may help you with the sale/transfer process.

Are you a member of domain seller communities/forums? Probably, we know each other under some nicknames?

Ok. If you need a help with the transfer process I'm glad to answer any questions. Before we go further my client needs one thing from you:

Please email me an appraisal. My client needs an appraisal service that also verifies possible trademark infringements. It won't be a problem for you since our favorite official appraiser offers this option (trademark infringement verification) as a bonus to the appraisal service. It will take only 1-2 minutes to order it.

Please don't worry - the appraisal value will be very good if you order it at the right place. My client does not speak English so if you wish to make cash you should follow my instructions. You won't get a low figure in this case. I have connections with one appraisal company. I send them clients and they appraise names at the values I need. If you order the appraisal at any other source you risk to get a low value ($300-$400). You may waste money and time in this case. My client is a rich person and I work on a commission basis. He pays 10% on every sale. So I'm not interested in low figure appraisals.

You can read positive responses about this company at:
http://www.cnet-forum.biz/Archive/50783694219.htm

Just order the service at the recommended appraisal site and email them your domains with the comment that you have a buyer with $XX,XXX offer and you need the appraisal near this value.

The process is very easy:

1. Go to the appraisal site and order the valuation with the TM verification. After several hours you will get the results.

2. Send these results via email and we'll proceed with the deal.

If you are new to the appraisal process I can help you with a step by step instructions.

There are two ways of finishing the deal with my buyers. Almost
all of them are serious investors and they buy via escrow services only.

You can select one of the following two ways:

1. You use escrow.com. In this case you will pay their escrow fee (10-15% upon sale). It's not a problem if you sell for 300-400 usd but if you sell for 1000 eur it will cost you a fortune.

2. You list your domain at http://certifiedappraisal.net/sell.htm (it costs about 10 - 20 eur). They will provide you with free escrow. It will save you a lot of money if you sell your domain for 5000 euros or more.

Yeah...when I seen the name "Alice" was pretty sure wasn't really legit since Alice is not a common name in "Shaogou Ling Road Guangzhou City Guangdong" (unless there is a real employee working there with that name) and the "hotmail.com" address also added to the legit touch...

According to some public sources:

(quote begin)

Shane Atkinson, who was named in an interview by The New Zealand Herald as the man behind an operation sending out 100 million emails per day in 2003, who claimed (and appeared) to honor unsubscribe requests, and who claimed to be giving up spamming shortly after the interview. His brother Lance was ordered to pay $2 million to U.S. authorities.

Canter & Siegel, a husband and wife who famously posted one of the first commercial Usenet spam advertisements to thousands of newsgroups and were defiant in the face of thousands of email flames, having supposedly generated over $100,000 in revenue from the ad.

David D'Amato, a former assistant high school principal who was fined $5,000 and spent a year in prison after being convicted in 2001 for online crimes including email bombs targeted at individuals and institutions.

Peter Francis-Macrae, convicted of fraudulent trading, blackmail, and violent threats after sending thousands of businesses solicitations to purchase .eu internet domains he did not own.

Jumpstart Technologies, an incubator of prominent social network Hi5 and the first entity to pay a settlement as great as $900,000 for violating the CAN-SPAM act, later spun off into social networking site Tagged, which subsequently paid upwards of $1.5 million in various fines and legal settlements involving government entities as well as private individuals, and was referred to by Time magazine as "the world's most annoying website."

Oleg Nikolaenko, arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in November 2010 as the "King of Spam."

(quote end)

Hope that some domain spammers will appear in this list, earlier or later.

If so, it would be interesting to see how ICANN applies para. 5.3 "Termination of Agreement by ICANN" to _some_ registrars which are likely involved in spam operations, at least indirectly by sharing the same ownership.

... This Agreement may be terminated before its expiration by ICANN in any of the following circumstances:..

5.3.2 Registrar:

5.3.2.1 is convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction of a felony or other serious offense related to financial activities, or is judged by a court of competent jurisdiction to have committed fraud or breach of fiduciary duty, or is the subject of a judicial determination that ICANN reasonably deems as the substantive equivalent of those offenses; or

5.3.2.2 is disciplined by the government of its domicile for conduct involving dishonesty or misuse of funds of others.
