I am about to launch 4 Review Ranking Web Sites:
* Hardware Ranking - Computer hardware ranking reviews.
* Software Ranking - Computer software reviews.
* PDA Ranking - PDA / mobile computing reviews.
* Cellphone Ranking - Cellphone and cellular service reviews.
Currently Hardware Ranking is the only one that is live but it is not 100% finished.
The concept of these sites are to allow you as the visitor to find reviews of the product that you are looking to buy on one quick and easy to understand web page and at the same time get the average rating by those reviews.
Picture this; you are looking to buy the Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse (which is an excellent mouse by the way) - you could Google it the old fashioned way:
Google Logitech Mx1000 reviews and get a lot of results, clicking on each link hoping that its not just a sales page but actually included some useful information or you could go to Hardware Ranking and either find the item from the front page or in its category or search for it and you would end up at Hardware Ranking Logitech Mx1000 review page; this page gives you links to reviews, the quality of that link (as voted by our readers); it also gives you two different average scores, one by trusted sources (think Cnet) and one of all review sources listed for this product (Check out the Summary page explanation link in the upper right next to the product name).
Each source also has their own source stats page; sample Cnet Source Page as do each manufacturer; Canon Manufacturer Stats Page that gives you a more in depth look at the different sources and manufacturer listed.
Publishers (or readers) can add their reviews to each product or add new items if product is not yet listed; this helps us out ofcourse with extra reviews but it also helps the publishers by gaining extra links and targeted readers to their web site and reviews; so it is a two way symbiotic relationship and definately in the best interest for each source to add their reviews.
I am currently in the works of contacting reviewing sites to make them aware of our web site so that they can add their own reviews which will boost the number of articles listed tremendously.
Hardware Ranking is currently being spiderered daily by Google, MSN and Yahoo as well as a few times by other search engines like Alexa and Altavista.
We are getting search engine and word of mouth traffic already, making money on Google Ads (not so much) but also from our own ads and the Shopping.com XML feeds on most products.
The other 3 rank sites will hopefully launch within the next week.
Text ads will be run of network (all 4 sites), top banner will be optionally run of network or single site only.
Each site can be sponsored site wide (think Newegg/zipzoomfly) or on a category level (think ATI sponsoring graphic cards).
I am looking for comments and ideas by anyone that has the time to check it out; would really appreciate it.
I am also possibly looking for a silent partner to sponsor the sites, especially in their infancy in exchange for advertising revenue.
Thank you for your time,
Tony Lindskog, Editor-in-Chief
