Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

why no .tel on Godaddy site ?

I can not see .tel registration on Godaddy site. They don't like .tel ?

I have yet to see my .tel make it onto the google page rankings. It is a heavily searched for city name. I purchased in the 1st hour of the general issue. I also submitted it to the google addURL same day. anyone else besides the "hotelsuites.tel SEO" guy getting ranked?

cheers

I do think there's too much hype around it lately

Just like other recently released extentions, they're always hype put in around them & people jump onboard hoping to make a killing off it. Personally, I'm sticking very far away from this extention.

people are wasting their money on some of these registrations... :|

That's really an understatement. I've only gone through about 4 pages & have seen a lot of crap that has been registered.

HI guys,

Your advises are really appreciated. I added term and conditions on the site.
Thanks again.

Yes, but that's what they said about .com... it's quite often the one you least suspect.

"They" also said it about every other new extension, and were basically right every time. Or have .MOBI/ASIA/ME/PRO etc. been amazing successes?

Nop, you and they were pretty much right about those ones, not hard to predict though huh.

Yeah, and I can say the same thing about .TEL. It is not hard to predict where it is headed.

Here is the normal pattern when a new extension comes out.

1.) New extension comes out. New users show up on the scene thinking they are sitting on a gold mine.
2.) Reality eventually sets in.

In the end generally the only ones to make a lot of money out of new extensions are the registrars on worthless regs.

ROTFLMAO!!!

Is this a Groundhog day or what!!?

Seriously brought a tear to my eye from laughing so hard when I read that.

I have to admit though...I sort of admire your blind faith in this extension. Then again...it's the way people have been with the other extensions mentioned during the intitial hype stage.

It generally takes more than a few weeks for a new site to get into Google. So if you are thinking that you bought a TEL, submitted the URL to Google and you are going to see it ranked on the first page tomorrow, you are going to be extremely disappointed.

I predict that in 2012 we will witness a drop of never seen before proportions :p
I could see the extension bleeding. If you don't want to be left holding the bag I think it would be wise to flip as fast as you can.
There is no point in keeping domains that are not making money (aside from the purely defensive TM regs as usual).

Has.tel

I'm going to offer these as leased subdomains as being exclusive, must-have addresses. At this point, I'm not worried about directories and indexing (though I would not rule this out for the future). Customers will put these memorable addresses on their cards and hand them out.

I have a similar concept planned. How do you plan on actually letting ppl create their subdomains? I want to use the TELNIC API/Soap to build an self-service interface as opposed to manual intervention.

AUP/TOS confusion

If that is the case, it wouldn't be possible to create subdirectories with paid listings unless they are restricting real people vs companies?

I believe the violation would come by allowing third parties access to modify domain subdirectories via API calls. Telnic's position is clearly stated that they see .TEL as a single contact point for individuals and business and not for hosting directory farms.

"the registration and/or use of the Extended Name is free of charge to and is
only for the use of subsidiaries, business units or employees of the company or
members of the association that is the Domain Name Holder, and is not
offered as a service to third parties, or, where the Domain Name Holder is a
natural person, the Extended Name is only for the personal use of the Domain
Name Holder or the family of the Domain Name Holder, is not offered as a
service to third parties, and no fee or other compensation is charged in
connection with such sub-delegation."

Not true

They allow directories and PPC
Lot of people are negative about.tel because they can not park it and earn a few $ every month but this is not what is behind this concept.
I am glad most people don't understand it so I could register some great names
