Fund.com Sold for US$9,999,950

Fund.com domain name bought for $10,000,000. Per CNN -

Clek Media Inc. ("Clek") today announced that it has brokered the world-record sale of the domain FUND.COM for US$9,999,950 in an all-cash transaction. Clek, a media consulting firm, represented the seller of the domain, assisting in both the negotiation and closing of the transaction. The buyer is Fund.com Inc. (OTCBB: FNDM), a New York firm previously named Meade Technologies Inc. To date the buyer has revealed their plans for the domain mostly in filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

how true is it? Can they played up the figure. I doubt a 10,000,000 sales for a domain name. How much do you think that such domain name can bring in new business? How long to break-even?

I think it is an extraordinary overpayment. I would think they could have had pretty close to any domain they want for that money, and frankly fund.com is along way down the tree.

WallStreet.com would've been my name of choice if I was spending that kind of money... The fund.com seller sure has balls getting that much

Interestng one, if I remember rightly the reserve was around $3million for it at the moniker auction in Oct last year (not sold).

Yep, I was listening to that auction... Really surprised it didn't get more. Maybe not a $10m name but a hell of alot better than Fund.com imho

I regged bus-iness.com back in the day just wonderin.

You'd be very lucky to recoup your regfee. Short domains subforum has some speculative investments that might pan out. I'd recommend placing your speculative dollars there rather then in such names.

Haha, if that's the case then i think i am going to throw up a CPA offer on it for loans, push some adbrite and call it a day.

Not in the buyers opinion, and they are the ones who count.
