Jeff is a reliable 'hedge against inflation'. Congrats on an amazing posts milestone. Some folks make posts others... whipping posts. Surely your arm gotta be tired? :hehe:
I wonder if Jeff has 100+ generic .mobis hidden behind privacy
I guess it all depends on where you sit.. Back when I started buying .mobis, the consensus was that only mobile-relevant names were worth registering. I went against that trend and am now the proud owner of ~100 dictionary word .mobis with 200+ WT, despite having gotten into the game in February 07. I have no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be able to have the names I do today for what I bought my first ones for back then.. I realized that people might be interested in buying things on their phones -- not merely searching for sport scores, gambling, music, ringtones, sex, et cetera.
From where I stand today, the early-on skeptics were helpful. They no doubt convinced others that .mobi wasn't worth investing in, that only generics like sports.mobi, ringtones.mobi, and the 5000 others held by mtld would be worth anything for the most part, other than the few that mtld forgot to reserve, that names which weren't mobile-related would never be worth anything,... This in turn led to more names being available when I got involved than might otherwise be.
Was I going to attack these guys, call them fools, n00bs, idiots,.. for not realizing that .mobi had more potential than to be used for our stereotypical applications? Now why would I do that

I just went about quietly registering as many good quality non-mobile names as I could.
Looking back, I think I'm alot better off with a name like sucralose.mobi (Mar 21 reg) than I'd ever be with onlinesportscores.mobi, although if I would have asked for opinions on it, people probably would have told me that onlinesportscores.mobi had more potential back then...
So the skeptics
do have a purpose, and have been
very helpful to some of us in acquiring names that might have been beyond our reach otherwise. For those still shopping for names.. Don't hate Jeff, praise him. For he may get you a BigJugs.mobi for
Xx Quick Sale, you never know :tu:
