Nice quotes! Most people never do learn from history, now do they ;)
I'm looking forward to seeing what these auctions end at.

Let's try and be nice to Jeff today -- Professor Emeritus is going to hit 25k posts today and whether we agree with his opinions on .mobi or not, I think we can all agree that:

1) That's one hell of alot of posts
2) Jeff played a crucial role in this forum's (Namepros) success early on.

With that, I'm going to take off for the day -- tired as hell after a night shift.. Have a great day everyone, best of wishes with your .mobis and on there being more bids on those Sedo auctions!

This quote is from Reece's thread here.

How many nice things can you say to/about Jeff today (without sarcasm)?

25k :!:

I've been a member of NP for a little less than a year now I can say this....
.....

Sorry ,I accidently submitted prematurely.
I think Jeff's responses are refreshing and well thought out.I know after reading many of his posts that he is somewhat of a non mobi enthusiast but Hey!!! you kind of need the opposing side of the scale to put things in perspective sometimes.

Jeff ,you're allright by me!!!!!!!!! Have a :) day

I like Jeff! He certainly has a lot of experience in domaining. He also saved me a lot of money, although he doesn’t know that ;) Every time when I think that have superb dotMobi in my mind I asked myself what would Jeff say about it...I predict his appraisal and if it is "$0.00 - NP$'s+" then I stay away from it, but if it is "Reg. fee+/+ - $Xx+", then I think I’m on the right trace :) Anyhow I stopped with mobis registrations in May.

Jeff, congrats and thank you!
That's a very good point! When Jeff appraised 'bigjugs.mobi' at high xx I knew I had a keeper!

Agreed IMHO :music: :tu:

Now we just gotta get Jeff to change those $0.00 +/- NP$ and $0 +/- Reg fee appraisals to Reg fee +/+ and $XX Quick Sale IMHO and he'll be a true .mobi legend ;)

Is the day over yet? I'm beginning to worry that these teeth marks on my tongue might become permanent. :hehe:

You should really get that checked out ;) Kidding aside, yes I believe the day is over according to when the day was decreed. Maybe we can work out some sort of collective bargaining agreement? :xf.love:

It is hard to be wrong for so long. There has to be some merit in it. ;)
No...seriously, even if I disagree sometimes, it is always interesting to hear a totally different view to the prevailing one. It helps us to notice we may be missing something...

Jeff is a reliable 'hedge against inflation'. Congrats on an amazing posts milestone. Some folks make posts others... whipping posts. Surely your arm gotta be tired? :hehe:

I wonder if Jeff has 100+ generic .mobis hidden behind privacy :xf.love:

I guess it all depends on where you sit.. Back when I started buying .mobis, the consensus was that only mobile-relevant names were worth registering. I went against that trend and am now the proud owner of ~100 dictionary word .mobis with 200+ WT, despite having gotten into the game in February 07. I have no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be able to have the names I do today for what I bought my first ones for back then.. I realized that people might be interested in buying things on their phones -- not merely searching for sport scores, gambling, music, ringtones, sex, et cetera.

From where I stand today, the early-on skeptics were helpful. They no doubt convinced others that .mobi wasn't worth investing in, that only generics like sports.mobi, ringtones.mobi, and the 5000 others held by mtld would be worth anything for the most part, other than the few that mtld forgot to reserve, that names which weren't mobile-related would never be worth anything,... This in turn led to more names being available when I got involved than might otherwise be.

Was I going to attack these guys, call them fools, n00bs, idiots,.. for not realizing that .mobi had more potential than to be used for our stereotypical applications? Now why would I do that ;) I just went about quietly registering as many good quality non-mobile names as I could.

Looking back, I think I'm alot better off with a name like sucralose.mobi (Mar 21 reg) than I'd ever be with onlinesportscores.mobi, although if I would have asked for opinions on it, people probably would have told me that onlinesportscores.mobi had more potential back then...

So the skeptics do have a purpose, and have been very helpful to some of us in acquiring names that might have been beyond our reach otherwise. For those still shopping for names.. Don't hate Jeff, praise him. For he may get you a BigJugs.mobi for Xx Quick Sale, you never know :tu:

I actually think Jeff will be soaking up the plaudits.

However i have a secret vision of Sir.Jeff
I think he lives a Hugh Heffner style existence, he is probably in a bath full of warmed asp's milk with 3 nubiles, all caressing him. However like Hugh, he probably doesn't do the sex thing anymore, he would be 'in' the np forum via his pda.
From there tightly controlling his 'ecosystem'.
For me he's never worn turd spectacles really, he would be wearing Elvis style gold shades and a red velvet dressing gown after the bath.
Jeff, if you're there, remeber you are that leg-end. :)

Shall we msake this an annual thread? Jeff day/ :hehe:
