It's early, I realize ... have any hit their respective "Reserve Prices" as yet? :talk:

Please post any updates here, greatly appreciated ... :gl:

LOL!!!

Update--less than 24 hours after the auction started, the total stands at $192,510. Would not be at all surprised to see it break $1 million....

Hi MM, I'm not seeing it ... does that $192k figure include those that aren't currently hitting the respective "Reserve Prices" ?!?

Looking forward to comparing notes at their conclusion, as well! :talk:

ok, i think this quote clinches it. you know the answer. so your sarcasm is not professional nor polite. Killing people with kind sarcasm is neither professional nor polite. You should remove these two words from your signature asap.

I don't think cool has ever applied either, but that's absolutely fine, there is no need to be cool here. I am fond of polite, but to a certain extent, that isn't mandatory here either. Others will just reciprocate. So keep cool, that's a judgment call, keep polite, because your sarcasm is usually between the lines and really only seen when viewing your posts on a whole, but you really should drop professional from your signature line! Its a disgrace.

Let's please not turn this into a rant on Jeff thread encore (not targetting you specifically here PV, just a plea to everyone)..

The bottom line is.. Jeff is right. We can be as happy as we want about the bids, but the bottom line is that if I really wanted to, I could bid $1 under every single posted reserve just for the hell of it. It doesn't mean I'm actually interested in the names -- it might mean I'm trying to fake demand...

At the end of the day, all that matters are names for which the reserves are met and result in completed transactions. We'll all have to keep posted on that, but in all honesty, I think some of the predicted sales volumes are a little excessive when one considers the very large reserves some of these names have.. To date, there are still far, far more names with reserves not met than met, and until that changes, Jeff is correct and imo, being more "real" than someone who actually thinks mtld already has $200k in the bank.

ok. its not really a rant. its not even what he says. its so sarcastic. he's seeing it. he knows what it includes. so why write like this?

he brings it on himself. if he wants to beat the same points like a dead horse that's fine, but he posts more than all of us combined without a vested interest. Hmmm? either we post our dislike to this behavior or it won't be said differently in the next post. and its hostile. its unprofessional. its making me want to never post here again. i'm done, i won't rant, but its rediculous.

Reserves not met on: Ask, Hello, Wifi, Creditcard, Credit, Download ... etc. (working downward from the top $ "Current Bids" (by clicking on "Current Bid"))!

Loan does have Reserve met (currently at $30,000). :gl:

For an historical perspective (caveat, with plenty of time remaining in the current .MOBI auction), if memory serves, I believe Bank of America (some here might know them as "Bofa.mobi") purchased Loans.com for $3,000,000 in 2000/2001, IMHO. :$:

Jeff, my honest opinion is that you risk being sidetracked with this reserve thing - IMHO your entire position may look substantially weakened by the end of the auction if you make this your focal point (and I hope this doesn't sound arrogant from someone who has a tiny fraction of your post count).

Why do I care? Because in a niche sub-forum like this we probably do need a constant reminder that there are different points of view out there.

As I said above in the part of my post that wasn't picked up in all the subsequent quotes, I do agree with you on at least one key point.

That key point is supply and demand (I think I'll call it S&D for brevity).

You don't have to be original to be right, right?

And again, IMHO, you may will be on S&D.

I'm wondering if BOFA is our bidder on loans.. I'd imagine most domainers wouldn't place such high bids early on - smarter to try and snipe near the end. As for the reserves.. I'm a bit disappointed with ask.mobi. Hasn't hit the reserve and bidding is at $18k+ ?!? How high do they exactly expect this thing to go? I hope this isn't indicative of things to come (many more high bids not hitting reserves on other names).. :|

:hi:

I was kind of hinting at the same thing (re., potential bidder for Loans.mobi), I mean heck they spent $3M in '00 for the .COM and they are supposedly supporting an .MOBI already and in the future?!! :imho: :red:

Thanks again. :gl:

PS. What's up with this Sedo promotional link, anyway? Sedo.com/dotmobi :|
Also, flashing (on Sedo home page ad) domains Credit, Pets, Sell currently total less than $14,000 U.S. (with each not yet hitting Reserve prices). Thoughts? :talk:

Correct, $192k is the total of everything. I certainly understand that if a domain doesn't hit reserve it will not be counted...but we are just over 24 hours into a week-long auction, and many of the higher-prices names that have not hit the reserve are just below the lower range of the reserve. True, some of those may have been placed by "fake" buyers who have no intention of going higher, but unless biding comes to a screeching halt for the next 6 days, I like how this is progressing. Plus, if I was going to bid, I would wait until closer to the end anyway....

Apparently some people don't understand that concept...and feel the need to make extremely premature predictions based on current results... :alien:

Relax, friend ... waiting 'til closer to the end of the auctions is "standard operating procedure", of course! Plus, these early predictions are all in good FUN, IMHO - the current "kitty" is 750 NP$'s here in this thread:

Off for more popcorn ... :D

So far, the supply of premature, pessimistic posts in this forum seems to be greater than the demand.

That's a sign of professor Emeritus' Mobinomics. And for reference here is the primary theorem: ($0 +/- reg. fee)

It's all good, IMHO.

:bah:

Hurry, get your S vs. D actual predictions in by 4:00 p.m. tom'w (in referenced thread above) for 1,000 NP$'s! :talk:
