Hi everybody on NamePros.

I am a newbe on NP, I hung out on several other forums...

I discovered NP is the biggest mobi forum place, so you will find me here more often...

Problem: I sold GAMBLE.mobi! - $ 33,000

Should I be happy with it? I dont know... I am happy with the cash, but on the other hand: did I sell too early? Will GAMBLE.mobi be worth much much more in the future?

Seven days ago I was negotiating on Sedo with a buyer. He started @ about $ 5,000. I returned an offer of $ 33,000 and heard almost nothing, untill this afternoon...

Dear Mr. Veeger,

We are pleased to inform you that your offer of 33000 $US for gamble.mobi has been accepted.

You and the seller have now agreed to a legally binding contract for the sale of this domain name.

My first reaction was: F#CK! I lost one of my best domains... I lost it! Damn...

I was willing to sell the domain. But always via an auction. I thought that I could start an auction when the buyer accepted my offer. But it appeared that if I make a counter offer and the buyer accepts it, you can not start an auction.

Is the $ 33,000 (10 bucks more than laptops  ) a reasonable price for this moment?

That is an amazing sale!

To turn $100 into $33,000 has to be some type of world record!

Congratulations!

Job well done!

Don't look back

Never Look back at a sale of a domain name , stock or anything else.
You put this name on Sedo to sell it, asked for a price and got it.
That's GREAT. There's an expression on wall street you might have heard.
Bulls make money, Bears make money and Hogs get slaughterd.

NEVER LOOK BACK.. GO FOWARD NICE SALE

It will only be $29,700 after sedo commission and then only be like 20k after you pay the taxes on it. I think this was a really good domain name. 20k is not going to change your life. I would NOT have sold for less than 200k. The good thing though is that the money probably covers a lot of the money you have spent on mobi up till now so now you have eliminated your risk in mobi.

i personally think $33k is an excellent price for something that is not yet proven. yes, mobi has plenty of potential, but that is exactly what it is, a potential.

i wonder if you would be feeling the same way if the counter-offer came back at $10k (at which point, i would assume you would have asked for something less than 33k).

again, congratulations on your small "lottery" winning; and as jp said, enjoy some of that money on your family and friends. and don't forget to set aside a large chunk for the tax-man!

good luck!

webecri,

First of all, welcome to NamePros. We are happy you found us. :)

This would be a great sale, and you should have no regrets.

I'm always hesitant (even superstitious) about announcing a "sale" based on an accepted offer, before the money is in escrow. I've seen too many buyers back out before the transaction was finished. Here's hoping the deal goes thru for you, speedy with no hassles!

Intresting I must say, $33,000 US is an amazing offer compared to what you bought it for. But could you have got more, sure. But you could have maybe also lost some too. I would say, take the $33,000 and buy more.

Welcome to Namepros and I hope you enjoy your stay!

No really, I was upset! I recieved a lot offers. I rejected last week a $ 25k offer...

I really thought: "With that amount I cannot quit my job at the moment..."

But after a few minutes a really thougt "this is unbelievable"...

even if you regret it, you have just bring all MOBI owners to the new level :) and thanks for that....:)

Pay the taxes on it? Would you have to pay tax on it. Unless you are doing this as a business. What if you owned a domain name and decided to sell it. You did not buy and sell names you just had one you sold, like selling your car or your rolex watch.

of course you have to pay taxes on your profits from selling domain names just like you would if you sold a house or stocks. It doesnt matter if you are doing it as a business or not.

Congratulations Webecri! I saw that you have a bunch of other premium names too.

One question to all: Isn't it illegal to do online gambling now? If it is so, should gambling domains lose their values?
I don't know a whole lot about gambling so please bear with me.

My opinion --- no reason for seller's remorse --- it was a good biz deal --- sure, there is a real good possibility its valuation would increase in time --- but $30 K is a very nice ROI -- congratulations! and don't look ---

lol...any money you make is taxable...and yes if you make a PROFIT on selling your car you owe tax...you can sell your watch but if it made a profit , yes you should pay taxes...sucks hugh? try owning your own business ...but I digress :)

Very nice sale, I wouldn't bother reinvesting the money in other domains unless they really are gems and you can make an instant profit.
