Free Web Design (very short term!)

We are a new business based in Manchester UK and are looking to get some work done - we know we are very good and talented designers (my skill is mainly php). We are offering the following for the first 3 people to take it up...

We will design you a complete site (based on one of our templates) - and sort your hosting/domain name etc. out for you.. all we ask is that you pay £81.60 to host the site with us for 12 months (which includes 500mb space, mysql databases, ftp access, 10gb transfers, 200 pop3 emails etc.) and that we are allowed to display your site on our portfolio.

Obviously we don't expect to make much money from these sites, we just really want to get a portfolio, and yes there are some more conditions (but no extra payment!) which you can read at our site;

Amazing how a simple thing like a web design offer can bring out that people that want to tear you down isn't it. I've never seen an angelfire template, so I can't comment, but surely those templates are designed by web designers anyway??

What shocks me all the more is the low quality of the two designs of those who are so quick to insult me, the first a very basic Macromedia design - the 2nd, well, do you even own the copyright to any of the images you use?

Ok common you guys. Stop with the insults.

First of all, this is NOT the Showcase and critiquing forum. So please do keep the comments on websites to that forum. This forum seems to have a lot of trouble with that.

Second of all, you should realize that we all have our own styles, just because one looks cheap to you doesn't mean that it is. It could be the other person's style. Even those who DO use simple web builders are web designers.

Third, if someone insults you, I encourage you to hit that Report Post button rather than throw them an insult back. I hope we can resolve this.

Very generous offer Crymson, although I won't be taking it up (Which is purely because I'm a designer too

), it should NOT be bashed. It would be different if he was going for top flight jobs and stuff, then his page may be criticised, but the poor guy is offering free design and you only paying about the average for some very reasonable hosting. If he wanted criticising, he would have said so.

Anyway, back to the topic perhaps? I'm sure some people would have taken his offer up anyway, as many people on here are prepared to pay that alone for a design, let alone with hosting too.

It doesn't look nice in Netscape... But nice try with the CSS! Try looking at your site in NScape 7.02. In fact, in all Gecko based browsers, it doesn't look nice. ( gecko based browsers occupy bout 15 percent of browser market share )

Thanks for the replies - I will download a copy of netscape (shudder, not my fav browser lol) and have a play. Though saying that this design is a little outdated anyway, I have a new design that I'm working on which will be up in the next few weeks.

Anyway! Like Alpha said, this is not the critique forum, I was making an offer of free web design - so if anyone is interested it will be running for a little while longer.

I dont really like the style of your site I have to admit but I do not think that its bad just i have a more different taste.

The only resemblance to angelfire that i see is that the banner on top. You might want to take that down but other then that its not a bad site.

The banner on top is fine. Obviously his choice of whether or not he wants advertisement on the site.

The bashing on this thread is completely useless, rude, and unnecessary. Crymson, your work is fine and your offer is generous. You def. cannot make your page on Angelfire, not unless you knew your way around html and graphics. Though simple, your design is easy to navigate which is always a bonus. But since this is a sales thread I should just butt my way out now since I don't need a host...

It doesn't look like any angelfire site I've ever seen. Again, same as ele, not my taste, but simple and easy construction. Good navigation etc.

Yes the offer is still open, the banners are only there to display the sites of our friends - we don't get anything from them.

The site is about to under go a redesign anyway, a design I have been working on for a little while - I never particularly liked the current design if I'm honest.

I'll let you all see the new design first, before we launch it proper 1st Jan ...

from my point of view it is simply out of order to even dare making nasty comments in somebodys thread.
Surely I said it b4, if you don´t like what someone offers...forget about it...but, PLEASE, no nasty replies.
