Misspelles www.xxx-fr.com

HI,
What is actually your experience with domain misspells where the dot becomes the dash. the address bar automatically "connects" to the dot com. So as an example:
www.companyname-fr.com (french company) leads to www.companyname.fr

does every browser automatically forwards intelligently to the dot com..... how is that working .... does it makes sence to get theses misspells ???

Assuming you are looking for typo traffic?

My opinion is No.

Unless they are google-com.com,yahoo-com.com,youtube-com.com, otherwise don't waste your $.

If you're lookign for typos of that type, You'd be better going with something where the person didn't hit or forgot to hit the "dot" entirely rather than misspelling the doy as a hyphen, example Googlecom: http://siteanalytics.compete.com/goo...com/?metric=uv . Note: I don't endorse typosquatting like this on trademarks, however there's much better money in it than with hyphens.

Using Google chrome, with both the address bar and the hyperlink above, all i got was

"cannot find server"

im of the same opinion i guess as LLLL.com, and i am into typos.

the g*****com.com, is a pretty good pay typo, but not the best.

Great,
thanks alot.
I bought some good typos, all with the assumption that people forget the .com part, so the browser automatically adds it, and then forwards the user to the redirect of the typo domain.
However some domains work that way, some just dont and the google organic search shows up for the search trerm. Can something be done against that? Does the browser only looks for the .com domain if there are not enought pages indexed for the typo?

In other words
type in typo: xxxxcom in the browser forwards to xxxcom.com (redirect to affiliate offer)
however: typo yyycom looks for yyycom in the search results in google

can anything be done to tell the browser/searchengine to forward yyycom to the actuall typo domain (affiliateoffer) iinstead of the organic search look up?

Thanks for the help,
C.
