Hi,
I've read about this scam on a domaining blog recently and today I also received a "solicitation" from DS, as they call themselves.
The email is designed to look like a renewal reminder from a registrar, but is in reality an attempt to make you pay a ridiculously high annual fee for manual search engine submission - and they require a response by telefax, you know, that good old 80s communication means?
The threat is that unless you heed their socalled "Final Notice" (deadline two days ago to apply some pressure) to pay up, it will be difficult to find you on the web... What is more, you can pay a 10-year fee to be manually submitted to search engines every year! (Because as we all know, on New Year's Eve Google, Yahoo and Bing delete all their records of websites and forget all about them unless people submit their sites over again - not...).
They also take care to inform you that disclosing the information in the mail is strictly prohibited.:lol: Prohibited on what legal basis?
