High altitudes because it's closer to the Sun so the plant gets the most direct exposure to Sun light. why is this important?

Because it makes the plant secrete more resin to cover itself from the Sunlight that it needs to grow. Too much Sunlight will kill it.
This resin acts as sunblock for the marijuana plant. This resin just so happens to be the "good stuff" all weed heads look for. The more resin the higher the THC.
