Dynadot
Epik

Both have excellent support and competitive pricing which is important to me.

Dynadot allows you to Fast Transfer approve domains with one-click in the UI. That's really helpful as I've had tons of issues not getting emails from other mainstream registrars for this.

In ratio from registrar to userbase, there is one here that slowly sizzling to a crescendo over the years eh? ;)

I worry, because it's like a great little food joint or hiking spot that is the best kept secret until it gets too many positive reviews and becomes so busy it all turns to crapola.

Anyboo I hope they (the registrar) can handle it, my vote goes to them as always. Oink!

As an aside and a nod, Uni's user interface is drop-dead gorgeous, and customer support response time and resolution with NS (no not that NS) and E is world-class.

This thread should be
Your favorite registrars of the year 2021.
3 choices.

Should have another thread.
The king of registrars of the year 2021.
1 choice.

It would be interesring to see how dynadot truly performs.
With 3 choices everyone will select dynadot (obviously), but maybe they have a preferred registrar that comes 1st.

3 choices, can clearly see shift in tides, who's lagging behind.
1 choice, we see the true runner ups.

Maybe you can make that happen @equity78
Would be interesting to see.

For example.
Theres hate on GD, but those that voted GD, might be their 1st choice.

Epik, maybe people are just giving them 3rd vote for solidarity or wtv.

Dynadot, maybe a portion of voters prefers another registrar over them.

Namecheap, maybe they are 2nd or 3rd choice to all that voted for them.

Porkbun, same as namecheap.

Strong points, reality.
Which is why it would be great to have 2 polls at the end of year.
Best registrars.
King of registrars (or another wording).

Just to see the results.
Since its once a year.

Single choice poll, dont allow changing votes, and dont allow seeing results before voting.
So that its elections day sincerity.

No I can't make that happen, we are only having one yearly poll. I always made it one choice but over the last couple years members wanted more than one choice. So that's how it happened.

In the interest of transparency, our team has voted for Google, Dynadot, NameSilo, and GoDaddy in past polls. These were solely our personal opinions as customers.

However, our access to vote in polls was removed a while ago after a decision was made that we shouldn’t use mod accounts to vote our personal opinions, so our votes won’t be reflected this year.

May the best registrar win!

Rob Monster is busy spreading conspiracy theories about this poll on the other website.

This includes everything from the timing of the poll, to the methodology, to alleging that people voting for or supporting Epik are receiving private DMs, to NamePros "special relationship" with GoDaddy and Dynadot, etc.

Post from Rob Monster from the Dead Forum:

Surprise, surprise. NamePros decided to run the "Registrar of the Year" poll right on the heels of the very high profile NP Epik hack thread that I am referring to as a "struggle session". You can see the poll here:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/your-favorite-registrar-of-the-year-2021.1255863/page-4
Traditionally these NP polls were run at most once per year. Lately they get run much more often. Epik won the poll in March 2020. I think that was not the plan of NP's owners/sponsors. It was won fairly and we deserved it.

Back then you had to pick one. Later the model was changed so you could pick up to 3 instead of just 1. This change in polling method made it easier to amplify Dynadot since logically they were in most people's top 3. Duh.

In December 2020, JB Lions ran a new poll. This new poll, was run by someone who at the time was a hardened anti-Epik campaigner. That thread was its own struggle session. There is apparently a new team of "JB Lions" now.

In the past you could see who voted but now only the moderators can see who voted so the framework for ballot stuffing and removal of votes is in place.

I am hearing reports that persons who are voting for Epik, or otherwise advocating for Epik in the comments, are receiving private DMs. If that is really happening at scale, it fits the sad profile of the struggle session. How lame!

While the exact nature of Dynadot's special relationship with Godaddy and NamePros is not a matter of public record, I believe there is a triumvirate of some kind that is apparently supposed to lock down the domainer channel.

For those of you who do courageously choose to think for yourselves, and not be brigaded by the NP hive-mind, we appreciate your support. May God bless you and yours and may your domain portfolios be abundantly prospered!

Just remember, all providence is from above. I explained this secret about domain investing on Namepros here. For anyone who really wants the deep dive, I recommend my favorite book of the last 500 years published for free here.

Just wow. Focus on other things at this very moment, Epik. This definitely shows the priorities.

I'm with Rob on this one to be honest.

The title of this thread is "Your Favorite Registrar of the Year 2021" , Registrar not RegistrarS" so we should be allowed to pick only one registrar, the MOST favorite of them all.

By allowing three choices, in some cases what Rob said above might happen.

Who decided to change this from one to three and for what purpose? I find this silly tbh

Full disclosure: My first vote went to Dynadot anyway and will go to Dyna this year even if there will be only one choice allowed.

2nd Disclosure: Epik was not on my top 3 this year, not because of their recent issues but because they've been kicked out of Afternic fast transfer program.

I don't agree, but in fairness it was the only reasonable point in a sea of conspiratorial nonsense.

You still have the option of only voting for (1) if you want. You are not required to vote for more.

Many people use multiple registrars. I don't see it as a zero sum game. It would be nice if the voting was weighted though.

At least they made it a rule that employees can't vote. Active lobbying and that are the only reason Epik "won" in the 2020 mid-year poll. When the poll was run again at the end of 2020 it was not really that close.

The outcome will be 1 winner, at least that's how I am reading this. It also clearly states that
multiple votes are allowed. I picked only one.

You might have the option to vote only one but when you get three choices, 9 out of 10 times everyone will use them all.

Agree that many people use multiple registrars. I use multiple registrars and pretty much 90% of the domainers do the same, but this is not an excuse. You have to vote your favorite registrar and that's that. If you are an adult and you cannot chose between your two or more registrars in order to come up with your absolute best, perhaps you shouldn't vote at all. By your logic if I use 10 registrars I should be allowed to vote for all of them you know just because I use them all.

I'm not against Dynadot in any way, I actually posted earlier in this thread and said Dyna will win by a mile when there were only a few votes in the poll but I bet the poll numbers will look very different if only one choice would be allowed.

Many polls use this exact same format, but they are often weighted by preference.

For instance -

1st choice gets 3 points.
2nd choice gets 2 points.
3rd choice gets 1 point.

It is kind of moot at this point anyway, at least when it comes to Epik. It is clear without the lobbying and employee voting Epik is not a serious contender to actually win.

The data breach probably didn't help either for obvious reasons, but others in this thread have mentioned several other reasons their votes have changed - loss of Afternic partnership, Paypal, etc.

The reason Epik is not winning is not because of the format of the poll.

My post has nothing to do with Epik, mate. I even said they were not on my top 3 choices and I couldn't care less which place they're getting. It's just that I'd like to hear from the poll creator why change from one choice to 3 choices as I believe it was a crappy decision, that's all.

We cannot have preferential polls, we asked for it a year ago.

The solution is to have 2 polls at the end of year.
1 choice, and 3 choices. Won't kill anyone, only makes namepros and results more interesting.

With 1 choice
Dynadot/namesilo/porkbun might come first.
Godaddy will come ahead of namecheap
epik will get 0 votes, or who knows.

Whole different insight.
It wont hurt anyone, it wont be confusing.

NamePros decided to run the "Registrar of the Year" poll right on the heels of the very high profile NP Epik hack thread that I am referring to as a "struggle session".
To be clear, NamePros had no role in the decision of when this poll would run, and we didn't know about the poll until it was posted.

But Rob is making a habit of attacking us for new polls that are created after the poll that Epik won:
Rob blamed us for the next poll, calling us thuggish for allowing a community-decided poll to run
Should all registrar polls be forbidden after Epik won, @Rob Monster?

It was won fairly and we deserved it.
Then you can do it again; quit blaming us for your declining performance in the polls.

We have nothing to do with it.
