Sometimes we get great deals on domains that pay for themselves quickly, or are resold at a solid profit weeks later. Other times, we pay way more than we should and get a much lower return than expected....

Post your best and worst domain buy deals of '06:

Best: I regd two .la's for a total of $60 and sold them a few weeks later for $200.

Worst: I haven't made too many horrible deals or purchases.. the most I've lost from a single domain is ~$5.

Best: www.bo for reg fee from the registry of bolivia
Purchase: MavericksForum.com for $10 (I LOVE IT since I am a MAVS fan)

Worst: GoogleBookSearch.US for REG FEE

Best: careers.vg, gps.vc, dentist.vg

mediocre: the keywords are great

worst: investing in an extension that may not increase in value at all.

Best Reg: Vegas247.net - A wonderful name besides the fact that it's simply raked in the dough thanks to VegasPoker247.net.

Best Purchase: Bulk purchase from BuyDomains...38 gambling/adult names including the likes of VegasCasinos.net, FreeBlackJack.net, FourOfAKind.com (sold to RJ earlier this year), CasinosGratis.com, AdultPortal.com, etc. for a total of $4,000. Besides the sheer value of the names, I've made over $500 back in PPC on them in less than half a year, so even a reasonable purchase just for the parking rev.

Best Deal I've Given Someone: $1,800 on Ad.cc was a great buy for whoever got it. I still got a nice ROI out of it though.

Worst Reg: l3log.com can either be a great masterpiece or a really stupid thought...I'm thinking the latter as I haven't seen much l3=B l337 on the web, hehe.

Worst Purchase: Honestly, I don't think I ever make bad purchases, but I think it will wind up being a long while before I see worthy returns on Maharajah.net, which I purchased at $800. I'm expecting a "Vegas247.net" effect, some typo traffic from MaharajahClub.net which should get a lot when the APC hits India in March. Still, I have a bad feeling it won't make as much as I hoped. Besides that, I guess Blog.biz at $4,000 is a big leap considering a lot of people really hate .biz. I may have to develop it to get what it's truly worth.

Worst Deal I've Given Someone aka Most Overpriced Sale: As long as it's developed on, WhatsMyJob.com at $995 will be a great buy. I don't think a lot of other people would pay that much though, and I'll happily take the 12000%+ ROI in about a year and a half!
