discuss .XYZ is more memorable than .COM?

I just happened to read this article on one of the blogs which says that people prefer to go for unconventional domain extensions like .xyz, which is a top-tier domain extension used by companies like Google, to stand out from the crowd. Have a read through the article:

What is your take on the awareness about .COM and new gTLDs among experts or atleast people who make an impact? Are people still far from understanding that .COM is the KING?
What do you think can be done for them to create awareness?

As of today here is new abused scores in Spamhaus:
1. xyz = 2.9% bad (score 0.25)

2. club = 4.0% bad (score 0.31)

3. com = 4.4% bad (score 0.55)

3. icu = 4.7% bad (score 0.36)

4. net = 5.1% bad (score 0.51)

Hurray for .xyz!
