NYCvacation.mobi
NYCrental.mobi

Well? How did I do? Both imho mobile suitable..if you are a NYer on the go you may be looking for rentals on apartments and having your mobile device getting up to the minute info could be ultra important.

For NYCvacation.mobi I think again usage is obvious and mobile suitable. Those on vacation in NYC could use it as a guide of sorts while on vacation within the city to get info.

Well well well? Am I a mobi fan now? Are my domains not worth like $x,xxx or something? Taking offers now. None below $4k please.

(this last part I am joking about)

I sold NewYorkState.mobi for high $xx or very low $xxx can't remember so you pays your money you make your choice! :)

The rental market in NYC is extremely lucrative. Rental agencies are getting 2-3 months COMMISSION on rentals. That means renting a $2500 apartment normally costs a person about $5k for the rental agency. It's absolutely ridiculous but true. Manhattan real estate is profound to say the least. I most likely will create a sales pitch document and email or fax it to some brokers. I will of course push all those great positives about how awesome mobi is (screw you so I am a hypocrite). It's all about the money ain't it. :)

If I sell these for $x,xxx I will let you know. I am pretty sure I can get that for nycrental.mobi

Well just pinch me and scratch my eyes out. Did a mobi fan hijack your account? This is a thread I thought I would never see but here I am, reading what I once thought impossible.

Hypocrite, no. Enlightened, yes. You kept an open mind and saw that there is money to be made in mobi land. NYCrental is a nice find. Welcome aboard!

 Always about 'the money!' Welcome over to the 'force of mobi'!! I like your NYCrental.mobi. Rentals for homes, apts., cars, party supplies, etc. is big. Should do well. Keep hunting labrocca, as there's still some good mobi's waiting in 'overlooked land' to be caught and penned in your shiney new mobi cages!!! :cy: GL

Those were nice pickups by the way.

Well I actually stumbled across these while searching for names to recommend to a client in the real estate world. After finding some good .com and .net's I took a peek at .mobi and was rather suprised to see these not taken. I was gonna email the names to the client then I was like WTF...I will take them they are that good. For the $16 I know I can make bank on at least NYCrentals.mobi

And don't forget that for well over a month I been trying to find one decent name and this was the very first time I have. I don't reg crap like I see others doing. I pick and choose very carefully. It gets too easy to waste $1k in reg fees if you don't control what you are doing and in a year when these start to expire you really regret those registrations.

Hypocrite, no. Enlightened, yes.

No..verified Hypocrite! I ain't as enlightened as you think. They are good names and they fit the extension well...I still don't believe mobi will go very far long term. When I start doing sales pitches to real estate companies at least 1/2 the hype I will tell them I simply won't believe myself.

Yes, you are acknowledged as a hypocrite if you still have not changed your views regarding the extension.
Happy now? :yell:

I totally agree. I mostly cringe at the new regs I see. I could sit down for a full day with OVT and WordTracker and maybe come up with one name that should be regged. They are out there, just EXTREMELY hard to find.

Some of the new mobi regs around here I would not even register in the .com

Jesse,

You have made some wise investment choices, but IMO this is not a solid one (although chump change for you basically, a pittance). I don't see worth the registration fee or ever taking off. OVT for Nyc Vacation is a mere 272. Not many peopel search for it and IMO not many people would type such a long name.

Cheers,
Sam

I may have asked you before but how do you think you will measure the success or failure of the extension? To heavily paraphrase the mood I hear from you, "I'll get into mobi and make some fast money and get out quick before this sucker tanks!"

I like them

Im from New Jersey, so I widely recognize "NYC" and also the potential lucrative nature of business in the world's "greatest city".

I'm not a fan of Overture all the time, I don't think it does justice for some great business ideas and names (not type in traffic)..

Also, quite an interesting point about how an all day whois session might just yield one good name, at least lately. I have been finding it tougher and tougher now because I have been so used to really good names available.. now I am more second guessing.. but we have to remember that it is only $8.99 to claim stake in a name.. and try the idea out. Lest someone else try it out instead of you if you wait too long on a sleeper..

Back to the light side? Use the force!

Kind Regards,

Yelo

And whats wrong with that? All the expert domainers do that strategy for quick buck.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. That isn't what I am trying to say. I'm trying to understand how he will measure the success or failure of .mobi.

At first the attitude was "mobi sucks and has no future"

Now it is "Mobi still sucks but I'll make some money in it before it tanks"

What will it be in 2 years? Is there a measurement where reasonable people can agree that .mobi is here to stay and has a place in the internet (aka success), or will we still be debating the same old stuff? Just trying to facilitate a meeting of the minds.

While I agree that nycvacation isn't as nice as nycrentals I figured for $8.50 to grab it anyways. The idea to sell these is to market them directly to end-users via phone, fax or email. End-users 90% of the time don't even know what OVT is. For a travel agency to get these keywords might be worth a few hundred for them. I believe I would ask $300-$500 for nycvacation.mobi and $1000-$2500 for nycrentals.mobi. I think those are reasonable prices from companies that make mini fortunes each year. Advertising in NYC is extremely expensive. This would be sold as a form of advertising and branding to agencies. Many know they have to pay adwords $2-$10 per click on keywords in this area. I could convince them that within 2 years the click alone would pay off my price.

I am a salesman. I can sell these.

No...my attitude has mostly been that Mobi isn't going to live up to the hype that many expect. The MISSION of mobi sucks imho. I have always said that. While I can still quote some high recent mobi sales figures this will help me sell my mobi's. If on my sales sheet I show 2 year old sales that will NOT help me sell the mobi names. So using the recent hype I am able to transfer that hype myself...which creates more hype. Odd that hype and hypocrite are such similar words.

Really read what hype means and if you don't think it relates to mobi then you have bought the brooklyn bridge. It's OK imho to sell with hype...however you should always be smart enough to know that it's hype. Some here are very much convinced that the hype is indeed facts which is rather humorous. Fool the fools but don't be fooled.
