Why would a GoDaddy expired domain not go to TDNAM auction?

GoDaddy sends their expired domains to auction on the 25th day after expiration. I have been tracking a domain that should be there by now, but isn't. The domains that expired after this one are now on there.

In a past thread someone said that if two people backorder a GD domain, it goes to private auction. Is this a fact?

That contradicts what their backorder page says:

"If the backordered domain is an expiring domain registered at GoDaddy.com, the auction will be public - anyone can bid, even those who have not placed the domain on backorder."

Any ideas?

You can renew your domain with godaddy till it enters TDNAM. It wont appear in your domain list (after it expires), but if you contact them or your GD rep, they will allow you to renew it (for a special price, something around $100).

Yes, happend to me couple of times with GD backorders. Domain will shows under "Auctions" -> "My bidding list" (or "Watching list") with big letter P infront (private), for 7 days. However, last time it happend, I was the only one bidder in private auction and I got domain without having to bid anything (except backorder price).

Hope this helps.

The domain was not renewed. The parking page still says "NOTICE: This domain name expired on ______ and is pending renewal or deletion"

And this was a domain that was registered at GoDaddy? Because that totally goes against what their backorder sales page states.

GD caught that domain as it dropped from another registar, registered with itslef and started auction.

What does the GoDaddy whois say about this domain. If the previous owner pressed the cancel domain button it won't go to auction but the whois will say something about no record of that domain at the registrar. In which case you'll just have to wait for it to drop at the registry.

In any case. Why not ask GoDaddy directly why it didn't go to auction?
