They have been having problems for about two weeks or so.

One day last week was so bad I called my rep. and he acknowledged there have been some issues with load time, etc.....

I use godaddy and it is slow often, to me there is something bulky about it, it is such a huge site, bigger than all the rest, and as a result it is bulky and slow at times, everything I do there takes longer to update than other sites - redirecting domain names, refreshing etc.

It improves my patience lol.

they get runaway scripts on their hosting that bogs them down from time-to-time.

Switch to Name dot com ;)!

Last time this came up, someone said that they use a more secure method that is slow to load.

A related issue is that recently I cannot unlock, push or other similar functions from my old computer. My thinking is that they now fill up too much RAM.

Yea, I am trying to switch some nameservers and I can't even login. Couldn't login yesterday either. This is very inconvenient.

Godaddy is getting on my last nerve

I've been with Godaddy for several years and until recently have been fairly happy with them. For the last couple of months their shared hosting has become so slow I can not stand to even work on my sites anymore.

This sucks... I have 31 domains registered through them and 16-18 websites, so I am not looking forward to packing up and moving, and I'm not even sure where to go yet. Bluehost seems ok, but I dont want to commit to a 90 day term without at least trying them out for a month....and they dont have any month to month plans.

Thought about HostGator, but it seems they are fairly equal to Godaddy in many respects...including over-selling and slow performance.

What do some of you recommend? "no affiliate links please"

Hostgator has been OK with me. Been with them since last November, seldom any problems. Support is fine too.

i also realized that godaddy is RIDICULOUSLY slow.

and its not just their website, i noticed that my ftp client kept timing out on like directory listings / etc with like connection taking too long.

Godaddy site is loading very slow in here also. Hope all goes well very soon or Bob will get really angry!

The issue really seems to be that GoDaddy hasn't corrected the problems. They can't say that they haven't learned that folks are frustrated about it.

I called GoDaddy this morning because I timed out trying to access my site. They said everything is fine, and I tried it again and it worked...for a while. Now it's back to the same old same old, which means it's either very slow or times out. But what I really like best about GoDaddy, besides the fact they are denying that anything is wrong, is when you fill out a survey and hit submit, a window pops up stating "You are about to submit negative feedback. Are you sure you wish to continue?"

Damn right!

Well, the one good thing about all this is that my forum site hosted by GoDaddy is so slow, even the spammers have gone elsewhere.

I can't speak for the hosting service at Godaddy but a few months ago I had to use dialup to receive some domains into my new godaddy account. It was sooooo slow! Interestingly, both name.com and dynadot.com are reasonable to use with dialup.

It seems most of the domain management functions at Godaddy require downloads of multi megabyte files before you can do stuff.

I would speculate that a less than knowledgeable person (relative of the owner cough cough) programmed the site.

I heard that when the .me domains were opened up, Godaddy was fast as a glacier (aka super slow) Sounds reasonable that they'd get hammered on network transfer capacity if hundreds of thousands of multimegabyte files had to be downloaded in a narrow time frame.

I am not impressed with Godaddy and will be transferring the domains out/away as soon as the 60 days are up. And I also hate the Godaddy policy on not being able to transfer a domain right away if you make any change to the registrant info. Grrrr!

HI

I also got a lot of timeouts today... but had to refresh my browser a few time to get in.

It's been acting that way for about 2 months now (well, for me anyway). Really frustrating! I couldn't even sign-in once because nothing was loading...
