why all these number domains sell for so much? each of the domains above was sold for over $1,000 and there are A LOT more of these.

Why? what's so special about these domains? I'm new to domaining and I'm just curious bc I can't understand this.

    Thank you!

The Chinese supposedly love number domains as they are easy for them to remember and pronounce. 3 letter .com's are a gold mine, 4 numbers and 5 numbers aren't doing so bad.

They are short, easy to remember for many and visually appealing.

    87515.com is nice

Numeric domains are primarily, not completely but primarily the playground for Chinese domainers and end users. If you don't understand something you should never invest 1 penny.

There are plenty of places here to read up about Chinese and numerics, @Kassey Lee has written extensively and you should check out his blog at Coreile.com.

I believed NNN and NNNN Numeric domains had its value, but I don't see any value in "888999//cc"
So, why it can be sold at a high price, the underlying methodology is brainwashing.

I knew that a groups of chinese sellers created a lot of accounts on forums and QQ and keep promoting that duplicate number had value and 'number in serial' had value.:xf.laugh:
Since 888999 fulfilled those two requirement and therefore someone purchase it because they also believed it have value.

Many years ago. I don't think they will be success to brainwashing the buyers. However, I was obviously wrong and they finally make it happened.

I understand some numbers make sense and have value, but why random numbers? Or is it just someone buying into some sort of hype?

They probably just cost cents each. If you have buyers you just keep in same niche.

Why? It's pump and dump at it's finest.

    1. Buy a bunch of domains in a certain niche for dirt cheap

    2. Post a bunch of fake sales in said niche wherever you can

    3. Sit back and sell these junk domains for thousands to unsuspecting suckers!

    4. Find another niche. Rinse and repeat

LOL. You do realize end users buy numbered domains, right? Just in the last month I sold a 5N.com (containing a 4) for $2995 to a Chinese buyer and a 4N.net (ABAB) for $8995 to a Taiwanese buyer. Was I a sucker for buying those at auction for $550 and $2125? You also realize people invest in numbered .coms as a store/transfer of wealth (similar to bitcoin), right? They are liquid, instantly transferable, finite, denominated in USD (and ultimately controlled by US Gov), and unrestricted. How do you think the Chinese bought half of Vancouver given the country's currency restrictions? Junkets aren't the only game in town... I can assure you rich people are creative when it comes to $$$.

Why do people hand register crap that never sells? There's a market for most everything.

Speculation is a major aspect, but that is what provides liquidity. Personally, I think numbered .coms are one of the absolute best buys right now. Prices spiked at the end of 2015, as the Chinese looked for alternatives to equity markets which had sank earlier in the year. How's their stock market been performing lately? Government of China is also about to begin an aggressive stimulus program which is also bullish imo. I have a feeling when I revisit this thread in 12 months prices are going to be significantly higher.
