Which registrar should take over the domains from RegisterFly - offer a lateral move of domains, retaining the expiration date and all who-is details WITHOUT charging the victims (domainers) of RegisterFly's loss of accreditation.

Moniker
Godaddy
Namecheap
eNom
dotster
other

RegisterFly.com used to accept PayPal, so it should be a company able to accomodate them. I voted for GoDaddy even though I'm not a big fan of them.

I voted GD and NameCheap.

I don't like the idea of Moniker taking it on as they aren't as flexible on their pricing unless you wave $500 at them.

People used RegFly because it was cheap....suggestion a registrar that is not cheap or requires a huge "buy-in" fee is pointless.

NameCheap and GoDaddy are two very good registrars. People complain about GoDaddy's pricing....but with coupon codes you can get domains down to $7.20 including ICANN fees. They have a robust control panel which is easy to use, as have namecheap. Remember, another reason people chose RegFly was because of its highly usable control panel, which has now been defunct for several months.

Summery: NameCheap & GoDaddy is the answer for RegisterFly's customer base.

I would recommend DomainSite, however they dont seem to update anything. Their site looks like it was made by someone who doesn't have a clue how to make a site....it looks 15 years old! They also lack many major features that both GoDaddy and Namecheap have.

NameCheap shouldn't even be an option, since they're a reseller and not an ICANN accredited registrar.

And the problem with them being a reseller is...?

Namecheap are a great registrar....they know their limits, they provide an excellent service....just because they are a reseller, it doesn't mean they are worthless.

Personally, I think Registerfly should be forced to clean up their own mess,
I mean they gave them back control....??? :yell:
But if I had a choice I say Godaddy - other than inhouse transfers,
they've never let me down!

The problem with being a reseller is that eNom is not going to take over all the domains at RegisterFly and then pointlessly give control to one of their resellers. That wouldn't be very intelligent from a financial standpoint.

NameCheap would probably do the best to pick up the slack, but it would make more sense for GoDaddy to, since NameCheap is an eNom reseller.

A good point...however senses can be misleading :)

I don't like GoDaddy personally, but for most, its name is synonymous with domain name registration.

NameCheap, on the other hand, has great support, an amazing control panel, and fair prices (with Paypal).

Users shouldn't be forced to one. Give a choice of serveral, and let the user pick. They should have the choice based on their style and portfolio. Many non-resellers also used them for hosting, so some may care less about the domain than having a hosting service with the same features or easy transfer of websites. let the registrars compete for the business.

That would be the best but I am really doubting they would all or even half agree to do this for free.

I think it would passably be best if ICANN were to setup a temporary domain holding service to allow users to manage their domains like before, then when it comes to renewal, simply require them to transfer to another registrar.

NameCheap or DomainSite.

I think that GoDaddy probably has the staff to handle the bulk of work the most efficiently.

GoDaddy. They have the best customer service, far and away.
