So far I have BOOGIE as the overall winner, with over 80 knock em dead regges....

Next I have Online.TV running a close second.....again, absolute heavyweight regges, however Online.TV owns most of the plurals to their key regges, so they are better protected, but less diversified.....

Anyone else keeping a name count on the big boys??

Martin Pierce had some really nice ones that just expired (movies.tv - $250,000, sports.tv $1,000,000, games.tv $100,000). FMA (aka Elequa) has some nice ones as well (internet.tv, music.tv, mail.tv).

Online.tv once owned Police.tv which I recently regged...so they do let some drop.

As far as I know Igal (Boogie) is the biggest .tv owner.

I often meet in the Whois 'Fawwaz Al Khodari' as well as 'Marty Novitsky' but I am not able to score them.

EQUITY,

I did notice that 95% of online.TV regges expire in 07.....what makes you think they won't renew??

Interesting, so two of the biggest .tv owners are "liquidating"/dropping names. I wonder how long Martin Pierce and online.tv have been holding their names for?

Definitely not long enough given the recent google transaction.

That is not what I said SNOOP Online.tv IS OUT OF MONEY so they will sell their names they overbought years ago. Martin pierce is nowhere near as Big as Elequa or IGAL. ANd what those people are doing really does not matter I have never understood this backward logic, people focus on your names the only one who is going to do it for your names is you no one else this is not the stock market where a whole group may go up because one company gets an upgrade.

Wow, quite a lot of action here recently.......heres my take , I have part ownership in regges worth of $60,000 + before discount (based on two years upfront) and a further sole ownership of regges worth another couple of thousand.......two years upfront

My protection to this speculation is DEVELOPMENT........so even if .TV flops, the developed sites will be the saviour......right now, I am a speculator and soon to be developer of some of my sites.....I have two years to get these up & runnning before I need to pay "rent" for the office space.....I am happy with my decisions cause I have that all important buffer - a unique site with a wonderful catchy name......

If I am not mistaken, they have been in for quite a few years. Possibly going back to the early days in the Verisign acquisition of TV corp. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in renewals year after year, ahead of the curve, and little if any revenue will burn through financial resources at some point.

I think the YouTube transaction is indicative of where .tv is going. If .tv takes off in a year or two, and they are dropping names, then they did not hold long enough, IMHO but their dot tv coffers dictate whether this is a go.

Umm sorry, but the whole market does tend to be effected by sale of names, owners doing well/going bankrupt etc. Ignoring the rest of the market would be a very foolish thing to do.

Umm no your wrong online.tv has no affect on me developing my domains as businesses or anyone else here because someone over extended themself is affecting no one else here. People should be reggin .tv domains to develop then and online.tv has no effect on that.

The keyword here is "should". You are talking about yourself, I'm talking about the market.

Snoop,

You r right, certainly had Online.TV not overextended themselves ( I am saying this based on what Equity said about Online.Tv) and managed to hold the names and get dop dollar for each and every name, the " market" would definately behave in alot more favorable a fashion to those holding a portfolio of names .tv........but a market is also fluid, is this a blip or a trend, if it is a blip, then the market will treat this as an individual case of overreach and .TV won't be hurt......if it is a trend, then yes, speculators who speculate only and don't develop wil be hurt, myself included....which is why I eventually went for names that are relatively simple to develop, with great names, such as education and IT instead of the crap I used to reg when I first got into .TV...

But your point is valid, we should all be aware of this downside - and measure the risk and make a decision that allows for a complete downturn in the .TV speculators market and still come out on top.

They did renew quite a few in 2006...I was watching some, but never caught anything that they let drop.

This is a subjective business with indiviual needs of end users, .tv is not a mystery to domainers or end users. Scott Higgason and I discussed many time that Hollywood and Media and Entertainment companies were aware of .tv so if it was avail you did not hit the lottery, you did not find the next microcap stock to jump 1000%. The value in .tv is that due to Verisigns pricing strategy and a plan from day one that they did not want this to be a domainer ext especially on the premium side, you can find great names to build a business around it gave Millers the oppotunity to get a name he could not get in com/net/org Development is the key. AN end user sale is always unique Blue.com sold for $500,000 so White.com will sell for the same? No could be more could be less Unique just like your .tv GET.tv just sold for $9200 yet DVD.tv only $5000 big % difference both LLL but you have to look at unique users that have a specific need. Bud.tv is not going to help my wet.tv only Lance and my efforts will help the value. IMO
