Since around 2004 I have been buying domains and I have only sold 2-3 and only by accident let any of the expire. However, now I want to see if any of them are actually worth anything especially the ones I no longer plan to use.

I've read through a few different random threads and seen people sell domains for insane prices, but how are they doing this?

Where should I start?

  • You can hang it on different platforms and see what happens
  • It can also be auctioned on a platform

What am I going to look for to see what my top 10 are?

Also, I have some misspells that are actually just because I'm a terrible speller. Should I keep those lol?

One option being "fresh" to the game is you may want to try a couple of brandable marketplaces to get you off the ground and help you learn to value some of your domains. As you gain confidence you can break out on your own if that is the path you wish to follow. (Brandable marketplaces can certainly under/over value your domains - but it is a possible starting point)

But no matter what path you choose - you will need a basic understanding of inherit value and quality. Another way this can be achieved is by a ton of reading and trial and error over years.

Another path that works for some is pure random luck - but you won't learn much.

Best advice I can give is - If you were going to start a business, would you spend what you are asking for that domain (assuming you had the means to)? This means being brutally honest with yourself.

Second piece of advice I can give is opinions are like..... um.... (looking for a nice word)... noses. Everyone has one. But most if not all of them stink... Or in this case, I guess smell? :xf.wink:

Third piece - Never trust automated appraisals and never pay for one to "make a sale."

Best of luck!
