I have a domain that I would like to sell and it's a very good domain that opens the way for business opportunities. However, I would like to sell it at around $40k - $50k. I've seen listings in the past where there are buyers who buy domains for xx,xxx dollars all the way to xxx,xxx dollars. I've seen this on Flippa, GoDaddy, Sedo.

But it appalls me that there are people out there who would spend big bucks on a domain. It almost seems unreal to me. My main motive for selling this domain is out of the fact that I need the money. Otherwise, I would keep this domain and try to flip it, so that it can sell for much higher in the future because it truly does have a lot of potential.

However, I'm in a terrible situation and crisis right now and I know this isn't the best motive for selling a domain, but it is a motive and I'm in a situation that seems to have no solution to it, so I'm putting way too much hope on selling this domain.

This domain, by the way, is worth more than or equal to some of the domains that were sold for a really high amount on Flippa. I don't want to publically share the url of this domain.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on this?

I never had to deal with a 6 figures domain.
I wouldn't really know how to deal with it. I think I would contact person like Andrew Rosener or Adam Dicker to get some advices. They seem to deal with high value domains a lot.

I'm just really skeptical because I've seen regular people sell 6 figure domains a lot. It seems pretty common on Flippa actually.

Huh?
Only 2 domains that I can find has ever sold for 6 figures on flippa. HotDog.com and Due.com
And only 47 have sold so far this year, that's 47 out of millions of domains that are for sell
Selling domains at 6 figures is not as common as you might think, it takes the right domain, seller and buyer for that to work.

Many more sell for above $100,000 on Flippa. I just think that he may be confused and viewing websites as well as domains.

Websites will generally sell for those prices because they're an established business and make revenue. See: https://flippa.com/websites/just-sold?uniques_min=2000revenue_min=20000&revenue_min=20000

You just told every buyer out there that you are selling because you NEED the money in a crisis situation. If you are desperate you will take a lower price if you really infact need the cash.

I am completely lost, you are appalled by people spending big bucks ? You would rather keep and try to flip ?

The domain is: Ecomarket.net. I thought it would be a good domain to sell because it seems like a good domain with a lot of potential and I've seen many .NET domains sell for 6 figures, but I guess $50,000 is a bit too dramatic of a price to sell it at.

@baseballworld: Yes, I would be willing to sell this domain at a much lower price, but I would obviously choose the highest offer I receive.

You have already asked for appraisals on this domain here.

Are you questioning why it can't sell for 4, 5, or even 6 figures when others have told you that it's a mid 2 or low 3 figure name? Questioning the market volatility of .net? I don't see where you're going with this, besides creating a new thread to argue the fact that you see the domain as being worth much more compared to other unrelated .net sales.

In my opinion, you need to reevaluate what you're doing. You'll get it right, but don't expect it to happen overnight. We've all made mistakes.

Good luck :)

Anybody interested should buy it on the other thread David linked to. The OP only thinks its worth $10k there

Instant $40k profits !

I get it. It's not worth as much as I thought it would be. I'm not trying to sell it for that much anymore. Thank you for your inputs...

I've seen many .NET domains sell for 6 figures
Really ? The only one I remember is sex.net, perhaps realestate.net, and it's not recent at all. Very few domains sell for 6 figures, especially in non-.com extension.
Ecomarket is a good domain, provided there are no TM issues, but the .net hurts for branding. I think .net is a good TLD for Internet-centric applications, for example webhosting. Your domain is not worth 40K. 3 figures is more realistic I think.

the .net is indeed the problem here.. the .com could have been worth low to mid xx,xxx actually, seeing how many potential endusers are out there using inferior variations including "Ecomarket"

The OP sounded like novice right from the word go. And proved me right after revealing his 6figures domain. Lol

According to Namebio, there have actually been 23 .net sales greater than $9,999 so far this year compared to 19 .org, 7.info, and 804 .com sales.
