Thanks for this question.

The primary purpose is more votes. If someone is more comfortable voting in a way that is less public, then that is fine by us.

The secondary purpose is to use those votes to determine and guide Community Moderation, which depends heavily on the number of votes. It will be more representative of the community's interests if there are more votes.
