What's the Best TV on the Market for $2000 max Today?

My cousin's TV just started hallucinating 5 minutes ago and he's gonna buy a new one today. (He can't live w/o it!)

I have always been partial to Sony, - that's what I own- but it's been a while since I've looked around and in the consumer electronics market a couple of years is like a life time. Has anyone made any recent purchases or research on todays's best bang for the buck. At least a 32" screen and a budget of $2000. I can search price comparisons for the best store to buy it from. Tx
