What % of your portfolio do you sell every year?

I am a newbie with a portfolio of about 50 domains that I've gotten over the last few years. About a 1/3 of them are developed and generating some income. The rest are parked but not receiving enough to cover renewal fees, not even close.

I was thinking that if I sell only one name for the year for $400 that only covers the renewal fees. I've had the names listed for a little over a month with no offers.

What % of your portfolio do you sell every year? What % do you drop?

I know it'll be different for everyone, but is there a standard range? How proactive are you in moving your inventory?

Most of us want to sall as many as possible, but we have to take what comes along. Your domains may or may not be good, but even if you paid a lot for them, one month of being listed for sale is not that long. It also depends on WHERE they are listed.

Are your parked domains getting traffic but no clicks? If so you need to optimize them or move them to another provider. If you are at SEDO, most people make little or nothing there from normal parking.

If you are not getting traffic to start with, either develop more of your domains or park where you can promote your domains as you would with a regular site. Most parking providers do allow this, but some do so ask them.

Lastly, park your domains at a place like Noomle.com that will put content on them and allow promotion like any site. Good Luck!

Thanks nielsencl, I have about 20 domains parked and yes they are at SEDO. One of those domains with the highest traffic (about 400 visits a month) has a 9% clickthrough rate but only yielding 5 cents a click. The others receive little traffic (1 to 25 visitors a month) and have received a few clicks but for like 3 cents a piece. I don't think they get enough traffic for me to worry about optimizing them at the moment. I'll look into Noomle.

I have my hands full developing my other names at the moment. I am going to start actively marketing some of my names and see how that goes.
