What American accent do you have? (Best version so far)

My Results:

Midland

("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.

Great quiz. I lived in AZ for 18 years, then moved to the East Coast. I never thought Arizonans had an accent, but apparently we do, since people always asked me where I was from.

The quiz said I have a midland accent,

I'm from Pa Dutch County and have some backwoods country boy/coal miner. I think if they would have asked some different words and terms, I would have failed this test :p

I hear things like this every day:
pilla = pillow
dontcha = don't you
wontcha = won't you
whatcha = what are you...whatcha doing or what do you... whatcha want
thunk = thought
coontcha = couldn't you
blowed ... the building was blowed up with tnt
bet ...he bet him up yesterday or he bet em up yesterday
yella = yellow
arntcha ... arntcha coming
futher = farther ... I live futher down the road. This does not apply to the word further

I guess this is more dialect than accent, but just imagine the accent that goes with it.

Everyone's getting midland :o

Everyone's getting Midland because its a "neutral accent," so when someone has that accent its hard to tell what specific area they're from, unlike other accents which have a specific region.

Oh how wrong they are, lol.

I got:
Northern

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

I am from Washington/Idaho, lived here my whole life.

I have tried many combos on the quiz but there appear to be only three answers, and all three are east coast.

This quiz is accurate for me. New York City born and bred.

Northeastern

Most people don't know it but this is actually what dictionaries are based on. If you don't believe me, pick up any American dictionary and look up "source" and "sauce" and you'll see they are written with the same vowel pronunciation.

i've always wondered about the 'accents ' most american actors/actresses had back in the early days of TV and film. The way they spoke is clearly different than the way we talk today.

Canadian

People from outside North America probably think you're from the States, but over here we wouldn't make such a mistake.
