Report says a deleted domain has been auctioned for $91,060 and most surprisingly, it is actually a 5N.com domain name!

This domain is 55588.com, registered in Feb 2000, and its last holder was a Germany end-user called VARTEX Media Marketing GmbH. Seen from whois history, the domain had been in its hand since 2007, and unexpectedly it has been deleted recently.

Report shows auction process of 55588.com is extremely competitive----56 bidders and 571 bids. Especially when the bid was more than $30,000, only two bidders, "First1" and "jiang123" were left. The domain name 55588.com was bid in the fierce two-man battle for more than an hour and the final price soared to $91,060. However the Germany company has nothing to do with this huge sum of money!

55588. com belongs to the "AB" type, easily be remembered and input, and at the same time,

number 5 and 8 have the meaning "I" and " making a fortune" in Chinese, such a premium domain with good looking, meaning and no limitation in establishing website.

5N.com names have always been one of the most popular names in the domain market. The prices of 5N.COMs without 0, 4 are usually more than six figures. However, only a few of the best 5N.COMs, such as 55588.com, could be sold at such a high price.

Due to some domain holders’ carelessness, so many good deleted domains have been auctioned. Some were bid by wise domainers at a high price in auction while some were grasped by cybersquatters. We sincerely hope that there could be “less carelessness, less regrets”.

it's 91,060 in USD, it is 590,000 in Yuan

Ouch. Its like winning the lottery and losing your ticket if one had that and failed to renew it. Heavens know why the owner of the domain let it expire.

Thats not the isue here g. The issue is the owner not getting a cent from the domain. Forget if the price was right or not. Plus who knows how much he bought the name for originally and how long he held it for paying renewal fees. To not get a cent from 90k that could easily have been yours? Who needs that?

Yes but if the owner had put that up for auction with a reserve, would it reach that same price? It seems only Expired auctions get sky high prices.
