What is the best name I can buy for $6,500

Just interested in knowing. I got an offer today to buy one of my domain names for $6,500. I want to keep the transaction private. I might be tempted to buy a domain name with that money, only if it is better (in my mind) than the one I am selling. Otherwise I might just not sell the domain name.

I want to do the reverse, so may I ask:

What do you think I could get for $6,500?

Thanks,

I'll sell you Tiki.us. :p

Honestly that is a hard question to answer because you could get a real steal or ripped depending on the seller and how you think the market is.

I think you should think about what you want and then see what you can get it for not think about how much you can spend and what can you get for it.

I hope you get something nice though and good luck. :)

I think you can get 3-9 x all premium, pronounceable LLLL.coms

They're appreciating like mad and seem to be a great investment.

Or you could get a couple of kickass generics, whether they are a steal or not would depend on your perspective.

depends....

it depends...

if you have IT.com you are getting a poor deal selling at 6500.

if you have SIT.com you are probably still better off not selling...

anything above a 3 letter domain it really depends. BUT, take a really hard look at what you have! is this an end user price? or just an investor? Is the stock market crashing? take the 6500 and buy bluechips!!!

one fellow that became a millionaire said he did so by always selling anything he could for a profit. that gave him capitol to reinvest ad infinitum.....

really not enough info in your post to be any more specific, but if i were offered that much i would take a hard look at the offer for any domain ...

Its all relative to how good you are at finding deals. They exist, not neccessarily always in the resale market places, but there are quite a few deals you can find, and with $6,500, there is quite a bit of options at your disposal. How quickly do you want to make money? (when is your investment going to come to fruition?) and whats your risk tolerance?

Buy more domains to flip, or buy sites to have a running start, remodel/improve it and sell months after. Or both, and see which one appreciates better.

Thats not possible. That is just ~2100$ / CVCV.com. At least not with premium ones, but i have to agree, if you can get two of these then it is awesome. You can also invest in a crappy lll.com if you find a seller who is willing to sell at 6500$ (hard..), but offers much less ROI than the two cvcv.com's imo.

Do you have any idea what their plans are?

Look for nice brandable CVCV's and VCVC's, you could double or triple your money in a year. What looks expensive now, will seem like a steal next year when you look back.

I agree totally!
i know the .com(s) are all gone, but the .US are gaining in value too, and the prices are not too expensive yet. :)

:hi:

Whatever you do decide to buy with your $6,500 , I hope you take
the advice that Frank Schilling often proffers on his blog and buy
"cashflow".

Again...buy cashflow NOT a domain name.

Buy a domain ,whatever it is , that is already making money
and will continue to do so.

Best of luck!
Patrick

This is slightly off-topic but this discussion sounds more like a conversation between a number of stamp collectors than anything to do with business...

all this talk of LLL being worth more than LLLL & so on is beyond sense (imho) There is no merit other than 'scarcity' in having 3 char domains over 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 char domains.... it's all down to the end user; if the name fits it'll have value irrespective of the length & likewise a LLLL with a rarely used combination of characters is possibly worth less than a great 7 character generic..

These values simply reflect their value as 'collectibles' - It's no wonder that most domainers don't make a profit (I'm sure everyone here does; I'm talking generally).

There is some kudos in having a very short domain but this is vanity at work...
the end user is not going to care one bit unless the domain runs into 25 characters maybe but domain 'collectors' like to collect just for the sake of collecting ;)

So, with $6,500 I'd probably look hard at hand regging some good names across 4 or 5 extensions & put some in the bank... If the $6,500 represented a large % of my portfolio I'd probably buy more names to maintain the level of exposure but if it was a small % I'd probably put the money into something else instead...

Just my two cents ;)

I wouldn't invest in any CVCV or VCVC LLLL.coms, A bunch of hog wash, great to sell to other domainers, not great to target end users, or get a lot of equity fairly quick on.

$6,500 , You have some nice options, It is depending if you are buying to resell, make parking revenue, or develope?

Like tricolorro stats above, As Frank Schilling says, Cash Flow-Cash Flow-Cash Flow

What kind of cash flow web site domain could you buy for $6,500, and what would it pay you monthly for that one time amount of $6,500?

There were a lot of people who also thought the LLL's was a bunch of hog wash; I've been listening to the LLLL rhetorics for four years now. But I'm serious, would love to see what $6500 buys in the cash flow business. Because if it doesn't double my money in a year, then I know of an opportunity, where you can possibly triple or quadruple it in a year.

But I'd really like to see an example of a $6500 cash flow, and just get an idea of what it would pay, in one year? You can use the LLLL's sales report thread to see what I think.
