Is it really just a matter of quality over price, or should we pay more attention to other factors like property and positioning before making our decision?

Are there any new tips that will help us find the perfect domain for our business idea in this day an age where everyone is online from morning until night?

I always wondered..well not always but u get the point... how even often below avg 1word xyz names that not so long ago were expiring and available to reg at 1usd for all... suddenly not so long ago..as if by magic..or trick..or god..or satan.. suddenly became worth the price of gold and sell for 4 or 5 or even 6fig...eclipsing top com sales on namebio and making all non xyz sellers look like amateur fools.

who knows the answer to this mystery ...the real answer ... receives.. well... my eternal gratitude...

Big questions...

Is it really just a matter of quality over price, or should we pay more attention to other factors like property and positioning before making our decision?

A: It is no secret that the game is buying quality, at the lowest possible price. Buying at a bad price...isn't. Regarding the other stuff, it probably is a consideration, depending on what it is

Are there any new tips that will help us find the perfect domain for our business idea in this day an age where everyone is online from morning until night?

A: If you know the nuts and bolts of what you're doing, whatever business that is, the name will come...IMO. May sound bold, but if you're a half decent business person, you should probably know what a good name is, and know what fits your situation. Simple, memorable, appropriate, and easy to spell

A premium domain like "taxi dot com"...if you are fortunate enough to acquire a domain at that level, the sheer strength of single words like this could pass for being just about "any" business (a porn site, a drone company, a phone retailer, a book store, a travel agency, a music streaming service...). This may sound amusing, but Amazon aren't watering trees in South America, they're a multinational technology company (with a nice word)

What I wonder is: it's been at least 20 years that the world has been seeing the power of premium domain names.. how come institutional investors have completely ignored this asset class upto this point. There should have been 100s of "investment managers" who manage other people's money to buy and sell domain names by this point. Pick any successful domainer and try to calculate the CAGR! People are willing to walk over coals if a manager can give them 20% cagr!

What if the new generations don't read posts on namepros and then xyz names become the new King. Although to be fair I haven't 'always' wondered that. I just wondered right now.

Magic, tricks, God and Satan already mentioned and this is only the 12th post.

My first tip if you're new to the game is to take whatever everyone else is openly telling you what they think is good and look the other way.

Reason being that they often keep harping on about it because they're heavily invested and they want to encourage it. It's called a foregone conclusion.

When you stop wondering, it's probably time to explore something new. Wonder is the fuel for innovation. Don't stop at the "perfect domain" because then you'll be left wondering if you spent too much, left money on the table, or missed another opportunity. One answer isn't always the same for another question and domaining is full of both.

The best tip I can give you is: Stake your place on the web or your identity that's authentic to a domain name. You're better off matching your business to a domain than matching a domain to your business.
