domain What do you think of "creative spelling" domains? - SNAQR.COM

I've come across a few here and there that I think come across far superior to the actual keyword alternative as a brand name. Especially for new tech related startups, apps, and companies targeting younger generations.

Never found any that I liked, however, as there are very few cases that the creative spelling version actually makes sense or has any appeal.

A few days ago I ended up coming up with a small list of these types of names that were available to reg, but still held off. They've stuck in my mind ever sense so I gave in and picked up 3 from my list.

Of course there is no comparison of the values between the alt spelling and actual keyword, but from a brandable domain standpoint how do you feel about these types of names?

Here are the 3 that I decided on:

SNAQR.COM
DRANQ.COM
BACKLINQS.COM

Please share any of your experiences or things you have noticed in regards to these names in the industry!

Creative spellings do work for brandables, but simply putting in a 'Q' in place of one or two letters, like in the case of the names above doesn't quite work.

I think that if you create this type of domain based on a commonly-known and understood word, like "backlinks", then it won't work so well.

If, however, you create a new word, and the domain is also phonetically unique, then it could work very well.

You would also need to careful re: the length of the domain. The shorter it is, the better, particularly if you need to spell the domain out to people!

SNAQR.COM & DRANQ.COM doesnt even worth the reg fee according to me.
BACKLINQS.COM looks good and you might get something out of it but if I am the end user I wouldnt have bothered with these kind of domains.

But as I always say, you never know what happens in the domain world. And you might get away with good money.

if you can develop it then anything can work. I have seen worst domains working online. But if you have only domain in the hand without any content then it wouldnt work.

Ps... Matriqs sounds cool
