Well I need some ideas on raising money. I would like to buy a car that I fell in love with. Some ideas I came up with are:

Not spending a single dime.
Spamming my job applications (take each application and give them to each employer everyday till I get hired)
Selling everything in my room.
and...
Selling bottled water on my porch for 75 cents.

I've started on not spending a single dime, that leaves me with six bucks and lots of change.
I will get the applications tomorrow or friday and make professional copies via my local library to make them look like I've filled them all in by hand.
I'm hesitant about selling the stuff in my room.
I have plenty of water in my house, I'll start Saturday.

I've realized that with a job and selling things I can easily raise about 10k, but anyone have any other good ideas that they might not be using for themselves and would like to share?

BTW the car doesn't cost 50k, it costs 30k. I assume the extra 20 will cover insurance for about 1 to 3 years.

What car?

30g is a nice benchmark for new cars, and even nicer for used cars. Would love to hear what it is your looking to buy.

If you're looking to buy new, going used will save you a lot of cash.

Think small to make big.. many people get discouraged and hit a bottleneck because the big numbers scare them. Better to think of a way to make $1000 50 times than $50k all at once.. or even lesser amounts.. $50 x 1000 could be pretty manageable if you can come up with a $50 product, service, or ?? that can be marketed to 1000 people.

I like the bottled water idea.

Since its summer time, go somewhere that is super crowded ... and sell tons and tons and tons of bottled water.

Good luck mate.

With the bottled water.. you said you have plenty of it in your house - if your planning on filling up used bottles from the tap and selling them that might not be a great idea. I don't think people would be too keen to buy water bottles that are unsealed :hehe:

As for any other ideas, well if I any to raise that much money in a short amount of time I'd probably be out doing that instead of posting here:p

I like the bottled water idea...Hummer....It's summer, Instead of selling it on your porch, Get some kind cart or something, Ice that water down, Then go to places where there is alot of walking traffic, If that is legal to do of course, And you will sell a ton of it! Good Luck Brother :)

If yer gonna sell water, you need a gimmick..

Here's what ya do: become a "mail order" minister thru the Universal Life Church, bless the water you sell and ordain everyone who buys a bottle (yay! no more property taxes!) :) You sell "holy" water, make money, and build a religious empire all at the same time! :D

Dave's right.

($50 x 1000) rather than ($50,000 x 1)

Bottled water isn't going to take you to $50k, at least not at the scale and time frame we're talking. Be original and creative. Remember the Million Dollar Home Page? There's something equally useless and lucrative out there, you just have to find it.

That's the best idea you've got up there. Along with not spending your wages when you get them, you should start getting in some money. You may need to get 2 jobs to make that kind of money anytime quickly.

some lady auctioned off the ghost of her dead father for a couple grand about a year or two ago, ebay could be the answer.

now we just need to think of a crazy idea that an idiot would be willing to shell out 50 grand for.

thinking.....

i actually do too, and this summer should be one of the hottest ones (seems pretty hot already). as long as you can get away without a permit or whatever you might need, you can easily pull in some good money over a weekend. and during the weekday, work full-time somewhere.

it might also be time that you start liquidating your other assets to get the money you want. :/

You're not going to make anything selling water and you won't make 50k with a job. The only way you have any chance is to make some stupid site and get lucky.

... what's the car?

I never dreamed i would actually ever see a bottle of water i would have to pay for, then came the bottled water hype, They are making billions of dollars, off water, which when i growing up, there wasn't such a thing as bottled water, and tons of public drinking fountains, Now all the drinking fountains are gone for the most part, you have to buy a bottle of water, if you want water and are out some where, the majority of it is just filtered, so why not filter your own with brita filter or ect, and sell it-LOL

geeez, this thread got me thirsty.

bottled water idea coupled with your other strategies could add some nice change in your pocket. depending on where you are in the city, business could be slammin'!

you'll just have to look into permits required for the sales and what not.

edit: some of you people are underestimating the business of bottled water. been to an amusement park or outdoor summer concert lately? if not, expect to shell out a hamilton for maybe three bottles.

The car is an Audi TT. I don't plan to get fancy and add things but I do want an S tronic transmission.

I'm thinking up ways to make the experience of buying water from me interesting to maximize my sales per day. I don't live in an area where there is heavy foot traffic, but I am willing to go to those places. I'm not sure about a permit though. If I have to pay for one I'll risk getting a summons for selling without a permit.

I might be getting a job at AMEX through my godfather.

And liquidating my assets wouldn't be worth it. I don't have much to sell unless auctioning off my room would raise anything.
