Inside The Void: An exclusive look at the future of virtual reality

    http://www.businessinsider.com/inside-the-virtual-reality-theme-park-the-void-2015-9#ooid=wwZXdidzpzppE3NFvnNsC_bCmgyd6hS5

In a remote part of Utah, a small team of engineers, designers, and enthusiasts are creating fun and innovative experiences that rival anything you’d see at Disney World or Universal Studios. The Void is a new age playground that seamlessly blends virtual reality experiences with physical environments, using effects like wind and water to make those virtual worlds feel even more convincing — anything from jungles to caves to fantastic environments you couldn’t dream of.

Just a word of caution. Don't grab just anything, focus on quality. There probably going to be 500-10000 companies/projects/sites focused on the VR in some form, 80% of them will choose a name with no VR or Virtual in them, out of remaining 20%, some will chose some obscure extensions, some will go for crazy long meaningless names they could get for reg fee, even if they raised millions in venture capital, some will use dashes, plurals, misspells, just anything not to pay few hundred/thousand for quality name. So you will be looking at 100-1000 quality end users for probably 10000 good quality names taken by investors in next 10 years.

Only 500-10,000 websites in the next 10 years? I think 99% of us are screwed then and wasted our money

I meant solvent companies/projects capable of investing in a good name.

Do you think Tesla could not afford VRSuit.com. It is a multibillion company that went for TeslaSuit.com instead. Heck, Tesla does not even tesla.com and Elon Musk could not care less. He is happy with TeslaMotors.com. If that was taken, I suspect, he'd be cheap enough to go for TeslaMotorCars.com

Check the list of some VR startups here:

There are a lot more domain investors bidding on VR now. The sale of VRVC,com mentioned on Domain Sherpa by Ali would have sparked more intestest as within two months he flipped it from $800 purchase to $7k.

IMO the days of picking up VR gems on the drops or auctions are now limited? I've been out bidded a few times now as I have a floor and dont want to end up in bidding wars and over paying when I can bid on something else...

I was bidding on VRVT.com at GoDaddy but it passed my floor price... The easy part is buying the challenge is knowing it will make a great return in future years... I hold onto my VR domains as I know 5-8yrs from now they will be worth a fortune...:)

Cool. And any examples of those choosing VR+Premium Keyword or Premium Keyword+VR? You just proved my point above that they will go for anything trashy but won't pay up peanuts for decent name.

With VR domains it is good to remember that there are sort of 2 layers of things. There are the actual website names and then there are the names of the products the company puts out to the world for an example in the Oculus store. I assume that at least the most successful companies will acquire both the name of the company / website and the names of the products - obviously if there is 1 product it can be the same.

You have a point and it has been discussed in this thread a few times. But there is no denying there is a wave coming, question is, do you want to be riding it or staring at it from the beach?

VR won't be huge in April, but in a year or two, it will take the world by storm.
