Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

side note:
For people still strongly and actively handregging my word of advice is to chill the f*ck out lol. Look at the daily VR names dropping all from people who over extend themselves, refused to take advice, and chose quantity over quality. There are good members on here who've been doing this for years who give good advice with an actually desire to help you save money and be successful. You can rationalize the mass purchases saying you only bought it for $3 or $4 on promo and the all-to-often stated "Well, you never know xxxCrap.com sold for x,xxx"..... "WELL YOU NEVER KNOW" is not a business plan. That is a horrible way to approach the domaining business.

Treat it like a business and respect every $1 spent. Be smart how you play this game. The forum is your greatest asset. Ask questions. If you see someone post a great name you like- get in touch, ask him/her how'd they get it, use the follow button. Hell, make an offer. I've bought more VR names from members on here then I can count.

I haven't handregged a VR name in almost 8 months because I know how hard it truly is to sell names above x,xxx. I know it's tempting because new tech usage pops up but restraint and basic fundamentals will win out.

What I did when I started was create a list of lets say 500 premium keywords that would go great with VR (some of those names tend to fit most future techs), check availability, make offers, and I got some real steals. I bought some good names from members on here too. And don't be afraid to make offers to other domainers- cash is always king. Take advantage of the ebb and flow of the system. Learn the system first. Respect $1

jmo

Perfectly said James, this has been said so many times and there are still a lot of people hand-regging names on a daily basis. The names worth regging were gone not 1 or 2 years ago, but most were taken over 4 years ago. As BostonDomainer said, you cant go into a business thinking "Well if I get lucky, this domain might pay off" because this is not the right way to go about it, you will end up losing money like this. Its better to have 5 names that have a 50% chance of selling, rather than 50 names with a 5% chance of selling. Those renewal costs will come back to haunt you and its happening on this thread a lot in the last 2 years where people have just kept regging names in all sorts of extensions. There still seems to be a reluctancy for people to email a domain owner asking if a domain is for sale? just do it, you might pleasantly surprised at the price you get it for.

Yes, I know I have repeated this a few times (and others have too), but its important and hopefully people will save some money by just reading it and taking the advice, especially new domainers and those domainers that keep doing it. :xf.smile:

Two other things I can add that have helped me over the years

1) I also think its important to know when to let a name expire, I am guilty of this too, we get attached to names and they become like one of our children and we dont want to let them "fly the coop"...sometimes you just have to let them go.

2) Dont just register/buy a name and sit on it, buyers often wont come to you as they might not think the domain is for sale. They may not go to the landing page and see a "For sale" sign there, its crucial to actively market your names using email, LinkedIn, Twitter etc etc, the more you get your name out there, the higher your chance of a sale is, unless you have premium names, sitting and waiting will not bring you sales.

Good luck all, the VR industry is certainly heating up now

I agree, Lots of great VR domains still to be had either through the drops, acquisitions, or auctions here on NP.

Leap Motion Raises $50 Million For Its Finger Tracking Technology

VR and AR headsets are heading to market from Microsoft, Google, Facebook and others that have a wide range of capabilities. Just last week we learned about Facebook’s plan for a $200 headset that occupies the low end of the market while Google continues work on a six degrees of freedom standalone headset.

What’s unclear is just how you’ll be able to interact with the virtual worlds and objects produced inside these headsets. Leap Motion is one possible solution, with its hand and finger tracking technology offering one route for VR and AR headsets to let people make selections and interact with virtual worlds.

This potential likely figured into the $50 million Series C funding raised by Leap Motion. The round was led by J.P. Morgan Asset Management and is said to accelerate “global expansion, particularly in Asia,” as the company opens an office in Shanghai, China.

In the last 2 weeks I added 125 decent domains to my drop list. I've always said 2020 is the start of when VR should ramp up but that's still two and half years away. My goal now is to get down to 250 keepers perhaps even lower. It's painful but I don't particularly want to renew so many. I am selling some via outbound in the mid XXX range, it seems that's the sweet spot for decent VR domains. Not ideal but it's a lot more than I paid.

nice
well we all drop some (do not confuse with "they've no chance of selling").. and some probably get replaced with better expired ones we may find etc.. but that by no means means I even mildly agree with whoever makes the wild claims that the only thing that'll be seling in VR is some couple 100s long list of keywords. those are just the ones that'll sell for more money... maybe a bit faster.. maybe a bit easier... but thne like you say, I've no doubt many more of lower/average quality will sell for lower (say XXX) ranges.. if you (I mean anyone) think all kinds of folk/companies with all kinds of budgets won't be needing all kinds of VR keyword domains then you're seriously underestimating VR... ;) cause VR is just that hot and big and getting hotter and bigger! ;)

that being said, I don't recommend you pile up on decent/average keywords in any other tech than VR (spoken objectively).. but VR is good enough to handle decent imo!

cheers.

ps. if ever you have nothing more exciting to do, and wanna pm me some of your sales.. I'll be delighted to read it.

yep.. thatd be just about what I mean when I talk of average/decent keywords selling for average/decent prices.. ;)

thanks for sharing.. my last one in that category I already reported was transitVR..com $500

got 3 more pending payment and sold.... 3.3k total. but it's always possible some may prefer not to finalize and get banned instead on gd. will keep posted.

p.s. where do you do outbound? just google searches? any tips on that? how many emails average do you send per name to get sale or a negotiation reply? ty

Yes just Google searches mainly. Nothing special, I just tell them the domain is for sale. I track the emails so I know if they have opened it or clicked the link. Ensure the link points the buy it now page for the domain. Sometimes I find someone who wouldn't mind owning the domain but they simply don't have any money for it. :dead:

Big-time sports are coming to virtual reality

On July 29, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet for a friendly match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. This time, El Clásico — the name given to any match between the Spanish rivals, which have met more than 200 times — will make its virtual reality debut.

NextVR, a VR publishing startup focused on live sports and events, is planning a full production of El Clásico. This includes streaming a pregame show, all of the on-field action, a VR version of Marc Anthony’s halftime show and a postgame wrapup. NextVR will set up 11 fixed VR cameras and 12 roving cameras around the stadium, with a production team of 35 people manning the entire effort. On the broadcast, veteran MLS sportscaster Mark Rogondino will call the play-by-play, and former soccer players Mónica González and Heath Pearce will serve as analysts.

“Everything you’d expect from a traditional broadcast, you will see in our own broadcast,” said Josh Earl, NextVR’s head of sports. This includes mini-features NextVR will shoot in the days leading up to the game, during the traditional El Clásico celebrity and alumni games, VIP parties in Miami, both teams’ practices the night before and the fan fest, which will then be rolled into the live coverage.

alright.. my first and possibly last and only attempt at foreign languages in Virtual Reality :)

Virtualia
.org

my trnaslator google says that means Virtual in espagnol

Translators often give problems, I could tell you many personal anecdotes, is wrong, virtual in Spanish (Español) is virtual.

I think virtualia does not exist, and if it exists it could be translated as virtualand, virtual site, virtual world, etc.

Imho.
