Okay, so my question is say I find a domain such as google.net (no I don't have it ), but what if..

Could I get into trouble with Google.com?

YES. Absolutely. Read more here about trademarks. Trademarks are intellectual property that are owned by corporations and individuals that gives them expressed and exclusive rights to the trademark. Violation of their rights has penalties.

Google is very protective of their name and would quickly have their lawyers
after you. That being said, i would quickly register it. Domaining isn't for wimps.

I dont think being a wimp is anything to do with it if you think you could be fined big $$$$.
