Use existing domain names or register new?

Hi people! Please I need your help in understanding something.

I have several domain names which I haven't been able to sell since last year - I've been rather too busy to do anything about them. Being an online freelance writer, I'm considering site flipping or having my own blog(s) from this point on. The domain names I have will expire in about 2-3 months from now.

Should I use the said domains for blogs or register new ones for that purpose? I'm wondering if there is any extra benefits attached to using existing domains over new domain names. Please note that I have not established a site with any of the old names at all.

Your question is like "I have 2 apples in the fridge, should I eat them or buy new ones". Nobody can decide for you, at least without knowing the actual domains and future usage.

I don't think there is anything important about the domains you previously registered. I would go with the one(s), old or new, for which you personally can get the most enthused about developing.

If they are to be developed for blogs, would you monetizing the blogs? Do you have them parked now? Do you have any way of identifying how much traffic they currently have? Is there anything catchy or commercial about the names you have? If you are not going to monetize the blogs, then I'd choose the most interesting or catchiest name for your blog. If you think none of them are suitable, by all means drop them and register something more suitable for your blog. You said you are going to use more than one blog? This means you will be dispersing your blogging efforts over several domains. I think it would be better to have only one domain and concentrate your efforts to the one blog. Just IMHO.

If you were to post a list of the domains you have I think you will find that people here will be able to help you by letting you know which ones they think have potential and which ones do not.

Post a list and you will probably get a clearer picture of what some of the vets here think.
