US Airways Claims American Airlines-Related Domain Names

US Airways Group Inc., which recently disclosed that it has hired advisers to help it assess a possible combination with American Airlines parent AMR Corp., has claimed a number of internet addresses that could come in handy if the two carriers got together.

Not unless those two have a mutual understanding. If this doesn't pan out, US Airways can always drop them, file those as an expense, and recoup after.

wait a second...are you saying that it would be ok to reg a domain like "applemicrosoft.com" for a third party, if the companies don't have or come to a mutual understanding? hmmmmm......:D

Its just US Airways having a company hand reg a few names with their mark plus a company they almost certainly have an understanding with. Its in the WSJ because it could point to a big merger.
