Not sure why I never looked this up before, but here’s a recently discovered (and little-known) bit of domain history:
Back in 2004, URLstream.com billed itself as the only premium domain name leasing portal. While most of the industry was focused strictly on sales, URLstream offered a leasing model — connecting lessors and lessees for recurring monthly deals. It was a pretty forward-thinking concept for its time — leasing domains as a service, around 20 years before it became accepted in mainstream domaining.
