I just bought a couple of 4 letter .coms and as I was searching I found almost all the ones I looked at are being held by domainers. Almost everyone is hoping for a big payday and I notice businesses are moving on to other names because of the prices.

I have registered a number of other extensions with 4 letters and seem to have no problems moving them in the $1,500 price range. Any more than that and I sit on them with no movement whatsoever.

Without Chinese investment what is a realistic price for a 4 letter .com?

Example I bought www.dunr.com and I am going to market it as Done Right!

Question is.... what is a fair resale price?

I am thinking around the $1,500 USD mark

I'm still shocked how many 4 letter .coms are in the marketplace as to actually being in use.

4 letter .coms were snapped up during the big Chinese investment movement of a couple of years ago. Now many just being traded amongst domainers unless its pronounceable - and then it can have more value to an end user.

Why do you think it has a fair reseller price of $1500 when you just bought it for $550 here on NP?

RESALE - price (as in to end user)
Buying on namepros is hopefully at wholesale price.

As you already know, we Domainers don't work for free :xf.wink:

The link I posted in the second post is asking almost 30k usd

Wow, I am in disbelief, no wonder so many of them are just sitting there.

4 letter .coms should be getting snapped up by businesses.
Excluding the QXYZ types of course which are difficult to match to business names.

Sorry, my bad - No one works for free I agree :)

@MapleDots - if you really want to be a good domainer, then go market your domains to end users for the price you think they are worth.

Good response and I don't usually ask for opinions on that, its just that I registered 600 4 letter domains (country codes) this weekend I am looking at the .coms to see which ones are in use. I price mine higher if the .com is in use but I am just shocked how many of the .coms are just sitting there.

I plan to sell mine around 400-600 each and my .coms around 1,500 each

It just seems that some of the 4 letter .coms are a bit overpriced to me. If they got sold and actually used by businesses then the price of the 5 letters would go up exponentially. There is good money to be made selling in smaller amounts than waiting years to get the big score on a 4 letter.

That is why I figured I would sell my 4 letter .coms in the 1.5k range.
I will be trying to buy a few of these up as well but I will be happy to sell the retail at 1.5 if I can pick them up under 500 bucks.

Question is.... what is a fair resale price?

The question that keeps me up at night. Hundreds of domains run through my brain on a regular basis as to pricing.

I acquired several pronounceable 4L .com before the Chin boom just because they were pronounceable (now that I review, a couple are call letters for stations). The cheapest is 5G (grand) and the most expensive is 20G (grand). They are all teenagers at this point and I am okay with letting them reach young adulthood.

In all likelihood several will outlive me as I will not compromise on pricing (until I need money to make a trip to LA or Vegas for an in-n-out burger). :xf.smile:

edited: added the word 'grand' in two places

Can you share the domains?

Pronounceable are the best but there seems to be a massive spread in asking price. I personally think unless its an extra special one the resale still will not be as high as the examples in my posts above.

The "get on the web" guy above is optomistic though because he has quite a few listed. If he gets 20k each he will single handidly raise industry prices on four letter .com's. :xf.smile:

I might be able to share one soon...there is a company looking one it because matches their corporate identity that was created years after the birth of the name and my acquiring it so I am not worried about trademark issues.

Luckily, I had it at the higher end of pricing when they started looking at it...my traffic has increased significantly since they started advertising as "LLLL Company is here to serve you".

As long as they don't require a NDA, I will post on nps.

I've just looked through my list, and I only seem to have one pronounceable, and that is "tupz". I've never been sure what to do with that, as I believe it refers to the act of procreation between sheep.

The only other possible is xohc, and I guess that is possibly the same topic, but for young drivers. :)

both .coms btw.

I sold similar 4 letter .coms for 200 usd via namepros - not that long ago but ended up paying 400 usd for a pronoucable one.

www.dunr.com which I will advertise as DUNR - Done Right!

Its like saying, why is sex .com so expensive? I could get, livesex, gosex and allthesex stuff for less.
And even random lll.com like abp lup for less than sex.

Its because its unique, limited, brandable, and rapid adaption for business.

I picked up a really nice pronouceble llll.com word that has several meanings, ie, a name, a town, a tourist place, a statistical data, a blockchain app, a quantum computing name about a decade ago. I do have people asking me if I want to sell it, I just give a high price and they never reply, but I always have asking offers.

So if it is limited, brandable, and is a word that has alot of meanings (not sex) and have offers and asking all the time would you sell it for $1,500???
