Interesting article. It is apparent that the author clearly has a bias against the US.

We should let the great democracies in Russia, China and the Middle East manage the internet. That should really free up the net for all to participate. Im sure that North Korea would do a much better job of bringing the internet to the people. Wait I 've got, how about the U.N? They do a wonderful job in preventing conflict and getting the job done.
Unless I am incorrect, the U.S. fostered the development of the internet and spent ungodly amounts of money making it available for the entire planet to use. Sure, ICANN should be replaced with a body that is more transparent and capable of stopping the abuses of the internet. However, I get the feeling that the author of the article would advocate that Ford, Mercedes and Renault should give away their car plants because the product of those plants are an integral part of society.
