Checking the Internet Archive, it looks like he bought it from Huge Domains between 2019 and late 2021, before he launched Truth Social.

Yes, but given all our hindsight, You have to admit it fits right-in. There's the election result to be had. Then there's the Trump response to the result. Win and he will probably abandon as a lynch-pin term. Lose then he still has a imaginary fight to be won. It's right up his alley

My point is just that the domain is nothing special. I would be happy to sell some random two word .com like that for a few thousand.

The domain doesn't really have much to do with the success*.

*Even now the company is worth billions on paper, but has essentially no revenue.

Trump has two world realities. Those accepted by the electorate, and those accepted by his followers. We have already experienced this. Without Trump would it resonate, it probably would, but in a far less valuable domain mindset.

Right, but it's about what they did with the domain. I don't think the domain itself really has much, if any, intrinsic value without development.

Considering it was priced under $3k, for 6+ years before it sold, I don't think it was some smoking deal when it was purchased.

Basically, in hindsight, it should have sold for more.

Wow, that's my bread and butter and I think for many others.

Don't be scaring us away from what works. I can't think of any domain that I've sold for good money 2 to 5k plus that I haven't held for at least 5 years, probably more close to ten years or more

No surprises there. Other than Ex-President Trump, I doubt that the name could make it to the limelight absent very high expenditures in marketing. His public profile is what is carrying the domain name; not the character of the term. I wouldn't have bought it. Not even for $100. The logic I use is to an extent, illogical.
