'This could cost him his job': A blockaded Canada turning on Trudeau, poll finds

As Freedom Convoy marks its second week entrenched in the Canadian capital, a new poll is providing some of the clearest evidence yet that this affair could end up dealing a catastrophic blow to the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Although Canadians sympathize with the anti-mandate demands of Freedom Convoy, they increasingly hate the protests themselves. A new Maru Public Opinion poll found that 56 per cent of Canadians don’t have an iota of sympathy for Freedom Convoy — and two thirds wouldn’t mind seeing their blockades cleared by military force.

But Canadians are also turning their ire on a “weak” government response and an intransigent prime minister whom they blame for “inflaming” the situation. The Maru poll, which was conducted from Feb. 9 to 10, found that only 16 per cent of Canadians would vote for Trudeau based on his actions of the last two weeks.

“The last time I’ve seen numbers even close to this were in the final days of Brian Mulroney,” said John Wright, executive vice-president of Maru Public Opinion and a 32-year industry veteran. “I think this could cost him his job.”

Mismanagement and hypocrisy (with a mix of arrogance), he knew what was coming and certainly could have handled it better. The Ambassador Bridge standoff was a police fiasco, leadership and communication lacking.
Even though there are questionable alterior motives for the protest, actions often speak louder than words...

Maybe take out the word abbreviate
And there could be no abbreviations
Then actions would not speak louder than words

It's an interchangleble abundance
Simple as that

Actually, I'm not paying too much attention to what's going on with the protest, other than this thread and the odd thing I run across on the net.

What Trudeau should've done..... apparently not what he's done, anyway. How it'll turn out for him and the rest of Canada in the end....

Fed-Up Ottawa Residents Use Pornographic Metal Song About Gay Cowboys To Disrupt Freedom Convoy

Counter protesters are turning to "Ram Ranch" by Grant MacDonald

I thought that was hilarious in counter-protest, justified too, citizens aggravated from all that honking :shifty:

The one blatant issue that I have exception with is: Trudeau never even tried to talk with the truckers.

As border blockade persists, Canadians fear a pretext for more U.S. protectionism

WASHINGTON — Escalating blockades at the Canada-U.S. border are weakening one of the most fragile links in the vital North American supply chain — a link that has nothing to do with transport trucks, highways or bridges.

Rather, it's the mood in the United States, particularly when it comes to issues like globalization, international trade and making things in America, that may pose the biggest danger over the long term.

Michigan Rep. Elissa Slotkin is angry that a General Motors plant outside Lansing is cutting shifts, starved of auto parts from Canada by the ongoing closure of the border crossing between Detroit and Windsor, Ont.

Her politically charged solution is the sort of thing that keeps Canadians up at night.

"It doesn't matter if it's an adversary or an ally — we can't be this reliant on parts coming from foreign countries," Slotkin tweeted Wednesday.

If the truckers agreed to share any donated protest funds with such as auto workers who've lost wages, wonder what that might do, if really anything. Put pressure to release donated funds? Gain truckers some brownie points? Get more donations? ...?

A little side note:

Posts spread fake letter from Canada's Trudeau to Ottawa protesters

Social media posts claim Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote a letter saying he is willing to meet members of the "Freedom Convoy" and its supporters protesting Covid-19 vaccine mandates, providing an image as evidence. This is false; the premier's office says the letter did not come from his team, and he has made no public moves to meet with the demonstrators.

"In a Letter, Trudeau will meet with Truckers in the Freedom Convoy, with engagement time limits based on "Jab Status"!," claims a February 9, 2022 tweet sharing a photo of a letter that shows a logo of the prime minister's office and signatures of both Trudeau and his chief of staff.

In the text of the letter being circulated, the leader of Canada's government proposed to meet with protesters, with time limits based on the Covid-19 vaccination status of the petitioner.
