Dropcatch freaking missed okboomer.com for me. I ordered a dropcatch for it after seeing it mentioned on news about william shatner battling a millennial . Millennial said to him "ok Boomer". Shatner's response ? EPIC

I wonder if there might be a risk of udrp depending on when TM was officially filed and when okboomer.com was caught. Probably.

It doesn't matter if dropcatch had got it, the auction would have most likely priced you out fairly quickly, as their are some heavy hitters on there who don't know when to stop bidding, and some who just like to F with you.

It looks like it will be a namejet auction.

Umm when DC missed it and emailed me I checked who is right after and already it was with some registrar I never heard off.

So no auction as you said? Or am I missing something? It looked like its in someone's account already?

Why the hell is it a company as big as Dropcatch misses a catch with such big servers ( I'm assuming).

Anyone ever suspect and order with dropcatch tips off dropccatch and and then dropcatch tells some "partner" registrar of a "good drop"
then dropcatch "drops the ball" and misses the drop.

Then tells customer "sorry we missed your drop. Not to worry. At least you don't have to pay for it"

As if that's a good enough consolation prize?

    Is this the new Front-running?

I have no proof obviously but if you work it out I. Your head it can be possible. What do you think?

Every veteran domainer who wants a domain, backorders it at all major venues, domaining 101. You are playing in a space where milliseconds matter, no guarantees. If dropcatch had got it, it would have been more expensive than it will sell on snapname to be honest.

I see the price at $3K already out of the gate, some people talking about TM concerns, it's got a fresh reg date, obviously it closes higher, if it gets to $8-10K? Whats the point, really?

Your right. I guess I should know that. Just annoying. You just would think since you are dealing with a big company that they shouldn't lose vs. a tiny obscure registrar and it's dropcatch service.

Just doesn't add up. I'm just lazy to go order dropcatches all over the place. Some charge you a fee upfront even if they don't catch it.

TMs may or may not be approved, in any case they can't be broad enough to cover all ways this could be used. Frankly, you could make the $3k back in 30 days with a little Shopify + t-shirt designs + dropshipping + FB ads. Covfefe was stupid, many of these keywords are hot for a moment and then fizzle out, but I think this has commercial potential like the fidget spinner craze.

Do domains really go higher at auction if at dropcatch as opposed to snapnames?

    I guess that's only if a situation. Like OkBoomer.com.

Is the okboomer.com auction a domainer private seller or registrar?

I have seen private seller auctions on dropcatch. I wasn't impressed. Not "okboomer.com" money. Why is that?

Ok. Just thought this. How is this domain already allowed to be auction when technically the reg date after it was caught is 11-17-2019? Shouldn't the 60 day look apply here to prevent this?

So they will auction it off over 3 days, then you pay, and they will transfer it to you, then the lucky buyer is locked out for 57 more days from moving it out. So the buyer assumes the lockout period after payment. They can push to a netsol account.

Still confused. Is this owned by registry or domainer? If domainer shouldn't it not be able to do what you said? I've never auctioned domains I got via Dropcatch soon after catching it because I thought it couldn't? Even if it's a push? Most auction houses won't even let you submit if it's within 60 days of reg. Sedo doesn't and I think GD doesn't. Must be new that NJ does? I don't know. Haven't paid attention . Thanks for the info though. Something to consider for sure. Never knew.

Well, okboomershow would be a problem if Fox got their trademark for their show. Just because you registered it in the EU doesn't mean you're immune to UDRP

Doesn't Boomer Esiason work for Fox? I wouldn't be surprised if it's for a football show for him.

No, it was just caught by Namejet/Snapnames and currently is (or was) in 3 day private auction for all user who backordered there.

The registrars Web.com (owner of Snapnames and Namejet) uses for dropcatching have all kinds of different names like "DropWalk.com, LLC" in this case.
They also seem to have agreements with a bunch of unrelated registrars whose credentials they use for dropcatching. Arguable business imho...

Snapnames/Namejet is the only backorder service Dropcatch will loose to

Wow! love the indepth info there buddy! Thanks! Never knew!

So instead of just Namejet or Snapnames constantly pinging the registry (or however they do it) to grab OKBoomer.com they spread themselves out by creating shell companies? just so they can beat Dropcatch or by default. ....US?

Always wondered how the hell Dropcatch got beat so many times by some obscure domains.

which now leads me creating a new thread. Thanks.

    No problem ;)

Basically yes, they have quite a lot of such shell registrars (as Dropcatch does also)
Only Dropcatch where too lazy to give them all different names and at 345 they just named them: "DropCatch.com 345 LLC" to "DropCatch.com 1545 LLC". You can check it out here: https://www.icann.org/registrar-reports/accredited-list.html

I see. Thanks. Very helpful. I really should know this.

so moving forward. as it was mentioned already here. always a good idea to order dropcatches at different services. I've heard this before many times. never really followed thru with it myself. too lazy I guess. no one to blame then by myself when the domain I tried to get someone beats me.
