    and hey
    I forgot to mention:

that fact that you are still alive and healthy

is due to the sacrifices of others
    who have not complained
    but acted accordingly

    in order to protect YOU

    accepting big discomfort
    and loss of personal freedom
    and loss of money
    big time
and didn't think of their own "Rights"
but of the rights of others

because those are not dumb as f*
and their idea was to protect humanity

Many mistakes have happened in the past on all sides, even the experts were caught by surprise when this pandemic started and have had to adjust their strategies several times as the World as a whole has found new insights into how this virus operates and spreads. But going forward with all the knowledge that we now have about the virus there is no more excuses in not doing everything in our power to bring this pandemic under control before things get really really bad (famine, starvation, collapse of our democratic institutions, and finally War).

Every choice that we make and every step that we take from this point on has to be the right one, we cannot afford to waste anymore time dancing around the issues that we are facing as a species which have the potential of having catastrophic and devastating consequences both in terms of the Global economy and the lives that are lost or affected.

We only get one chance to put our act together and save the World before it goes past the point of no return not only in how we deal with this pandemic, but also in how prepared we are going forward with dealing with the Environmental issues, Automation, Genetic Engineering, Space Travel and Populating other Planets, and Technology in general just to mention a few which if not managed correctly each one has the potential to take the World off of the right path.

As I have said from the very beginning we need to find common grounds over values and principles that are derived through logic and compassion and ascend to a higher level of thinking and existence that can allow us to look past our differences and come up with a plan that can solve all the social and environmental issues that humanity is facing before it's too late.

If we fail to do so we might as well climb back on the trees and forget about all the knowledge that we have accumulated so far as intelligent beings.

    IMO

On the face of things, many people seem like good folk yes? Talking about "sacrifice", "protecting", "humanity".
And in the same breath, throw out terms like "a*ls", "you deniers", "dumb as f*".

You know, if you see someone in a store not masking, you have every right to leave that store and go be "safe" elsewhere. As if it is our God-Given right to mandate our entitlement over some else's? Over masks. Over our "rights".

I ask, is this honest passion, or hypocrisy? Let's be careful. Hold true to values, even during pandemic times. A true test of strength comes when we may easily flip on a dime; succumbing to our inhibitions and preying upon those whom believe differently than us; but we choose not to. Be a good example in both attitude and language. There are options:

    1) Stay home.
    2) Leave the situation.
    3) Bring an extra mask or two, offer it to the person.
    4) Consumerism, less. Much less.

We've come to a horrible point in society right now. So darn saddening. We used to understand the term "you whom are not guilty, cast the first stone". Let's not condemn.

I think it is entirely possible this whole Covid-19 virus will turn out to be some sort of messed up brain disease, which the entire world has gotten infected with and the respiratory part is merely a side-effect.

    **

On a personal note (well it's all personal, ain't it?), @bmugford re. picture:

That is one picture worth a thousand words, and it had the words to prove it. Thank you for posting it, and thanks for helping me soften my view on masking. While I am not a proponent on the economy opening back up so soon, I realize the world is too small and cramped a place for many many folk to just go about their lives and business and need some sort of reassurance on safety.

I carry a mask with me at all times. It is because of the nature of my job, I could be a walking corona two-four for all I know. This is a personal choice. Doesn't make me better or worse, than the person next to me. Nor does it make me a "hero" saving lives. Let's not make masking some sort of high-horse we feel we're riding, ok?

Businesses, they have every right to impose whatever restrictions they want upon people entering their establishment. Kind of like the old "no shirt, no service" signs. So let's respect it.

    From Brad's image post:

    Don't mistake inconvenience for oppression

Honestly sometimes this is all it takes for a change in mindset, a simple line. That's the one that did it for me.

I am happy for you Grego85 for practicing hygiene and social distancing.

Your lifestyle however, does not take into account the Aerosol Effect of Covid-19.

Scientists have strongly suspected that a Covid-19 can be released from the lungs of patients into the air through sneezing. The air current will help the virus to float around for a while before it finally settles on surfaces.

So without the mask you can breathe in Coronavirus suspended in the air.

Read about Aerosol effect of Covid-19 on WebMd.

Thank you and I wish a happy long life!

For those who still believe that the pandemic is fake.. wake up and read this very sad story:

30-YEAR-OLD DIES AFTER TEXAS 'COVID PARTY,' THOUGHT CORONAVIRUS WAS A HOAX

a 30-year-old man, died after attending a so-called "COVID party" -- a bizarre trend where young people intentionally get together with someone who's infected.

Dr. Jane Appleby, chief medical officer for Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children's Hospital, said the patient thought the coronavirus pandemic was a hoax.

    ‐---------------------------------------------------------------------

Texas man, 30, dies after catching coronavirus at a COVID party as nurse reveals he told her he thought the virus was a 'hoax' before he died

While in the hospital, Appleby said that just before he died, he looked at his nurse and said, 'I think I made a mistake, I thought this was a hoax, but it's not.'

Here is another scary story with sad ending:

A 37-year-old Ohio man died from coronavirus after slamming 'hype' over pandemic on Facebook

This thing is very real and deadly, don't be fool and dont risk your life and the lives of others.

I understand you feel offended by harsh language

honestly, I'm not good enough with english to express my feelings
    in an appropriate manner

Additionally, I think nobody would take notice of nice words

I have absolutely no understanding why someone would be so self-centered in denying wearing a mask in public, when there is even is a slight chance that someone may be kept safe that way.

    Means no respirator for him/her

I have NO nice feelings for this individuum at all.

    those masks are not forever
    the virus will disappear

then all these guys can do whatever pleases them
    but for now

    wear a mask in public

    nothing personal
I do indeed respect you @HotKey

I have a close friend who is a denier
I was trying to convince him w/o success
he acts like nothing ever happened
and visits and hugs his 70-80 year old parents

    I felt extremely sad
    when I recognized
that nothing will change his mind

I had to give up on him

that pain may be reflected in my posts here

I have a feeling that more and more people are going to start wearing masks, but for those who for one reason or another cannot wear a mask there is still a lot that they can do to prevent the spread of the virus such as:

Don't go to crowded public places where you cannot maintain an appropriate physical distancing (at least 10 feet)

Don't talk right into other people's faces and cover your mouth and nose if you feel like you are going to sneeze

Respect other people who are wearing a mask and don't crowed them up.

Avoid going to small enclosed places where you might come shoulder to shoulder with other people like in elevators or public transportations

And finally best to stay home if you don't have to go outside and if you do try using a scarf.

    IMO

@Kenny , I believe the issue with the mask is settled, maybe now you should start a thread asking who's going to get a vaccine and who's not (once they become available which I hope will be very soon).

This is just the first inning oldtimer....

He is a disgusting human being and I pity the US for having this psychotic, narcissistic scumbag in charge......

If you need someone else to tell you what to do, well, you’re a child. Grown ups are supposed to be smart enough to make their own decisions.

Every state is different. Most are masking here in Michigan while out and the numbers show it. The problem is that people are stupid. You get a governor like Florida who decides it’s open season and people blindly follow. Now they are shutting down beaches and retreating because they proved that opening common areas doesn’t work.

Agree that people (in the main) are stupid (and selfish)...Who's arse has the governor of Florida got his nose up though?......

Would love to see the stats behind government trust and Covid levels - the more you trust your ruling party (person) I bet the lower the Covid spread....look at New Zealand and Canada as good examples...

Here in the UK we do not have a high government trust level and got hit hard as well....same for Italy, Spain, Argentina etc etc etc

Here in the US, the consensus was largely distrustful of government for quite some time before the plandemic.

Now people seem to believe the government more so than they would have just last year.

    IMHO

You clearly have the internet. Why do you need to put your trust in one government when everything happening worldwide is at your fingertips?

This kind of logic is flawed beyond. As an adult you have all the tools at your disposal to make educated decisions on whatever. You want to blame the government for what? If you are so gullible, I’ll sell you a nice .io for $1 million. Would you believe me when I say it’s the best domain ever or would you do your own research?!

I'm not blaming the government for anything, I understand the role of the world governments in our modern era.

I could easily flip that statement around and ask you the same thing....

However, we know that the AI and Google that tether the web will feed the viewer information largely already within one's own confirmation bias bubble.

    Be well.

The cool thing about this day and age is that info is available everywhere. It’s only a matter of researching and making educated decisions.

The obvious is that not wearing masks and not distancing doesn’t work.
